Men’s Tennis Hosts West Virginia Wesleyan

Edinboro, Pa. -- The Edinboro men's tennis team will continue their homestand as they host West Virginia Wesleyan College this weekend. This will be Edinboro's fifth consecutive match at home as they go against their nonconference opponent from the Mountain East Conference. 

Last Time Out 
Last time the Edinboro men were in action was this past weekend against Shepherd and Fairmont State. 

The Scots kicked off the weekend with a 7-0 conference win over Sheperd, as Edinboro men earned their sixth sweep of the season. 

On Sunday Edinboro completed the weekend with a huge 5-2 win over nationally ranked Fairmont State. 

Nationally Ranked 
Earlier this week, the ITA recognized Edinboro as a nationally ranked team in Division II men's tennis. The Scots were ranked 50th. 

Home Court Advantage 
Edinboro continues their dominant homestand in a comfortable spot at home. So far this season the Scots are unbeaten when they host a match, with a perfect (9-0) home record. 

Singles 
In singles the Scots are led by Ruben Acuna. Acuna has a team best (13-1) record in singles play and has won ten consecutive matches. 

Acuna is followed by the reigning back-to-back Men's PSAC Tennis Athlete of the Week in Bruno Sabio. Sabio has won four straight matches and is (9-5) this season in singles. 

Manav Sreekumar has won four consecutive matches and is (9-4) this season in singles. 

Doubles 
The experienced duo of Acuna and Kaio Sacchi continue to own Edinboro's best record in doubles at (10-3). 

Behind them is Bruno Sabio and Rocco Palombarini with an impressive (10-4) doubles record. 

Edinboro's third duo is made up of Thibault Dorval and Manav Sreekumar. The two teammates are (8-6) this season in doubles. 

West Virginia Wesleyan 
The Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan are led by head coach Kyle Hoffman and are currently (6-3) overall. In their last match, the Bobcats defeated West Virginia State 4-0. 

Edinboro won the previous match against the Bobcats back in 2019. Overall, West Virginia Wesleyan holds the edge with a (4-3) all-time record against the Scots. 

The two teams have both competed against Salem University this season. Against Salem, Edinboro prevailed in a dominant 7-0 win, as West Virginia Wesleyan also was victorious in a 6-1 final. 

Up Next 
After this weekend the Edinboro men will be back next weekend when they host Mercyhurst University for Senior Day. The match is set for Saturday at 1 p.m.
