Men’s Tennis Finishes Regular Season on the Road

West Chester, Pa. -- The Edinboro men's tennis team will hit the road for the first time in over a month after their recent homestand. The Scots will conclude the regular season as they take on West Chester and Millersville in PSAC conference matches. The match with West Chester is set for Friday at 1 p.m. On Saturday they will face off against Millersville at noon. 

Last Time Out 
Last time the Edinboro men were in action was this past weekend when they hosted Mercyhurst at home for Senior Day. The Scots prevailed with a strong 7-0 win over the Lakers. 

The Edinboro men went six-for-six in singles including a 6-3, 6-4 win for senior Kaio Sacchi. In doubles the Scots grabbed two out of three to earn the doubles point. 

Nationally & Regionally Ranked 
Earlier this week, the ITA recognized Edinboro as a nationally ranked team in Division II men's tennis. The Scots were ranked 42nd. This is their third consecutive week making the top 50 rankings as they have continued to move up from the previous weeks. 

The Edinboro men were also ranked second in the recent Atlantic Region rankings as it was released by the NCAA this week. The Scots only trail top seeded Charleston (Wv.). 

Heating Up 
Edinboro continued their dominance at home as they closed out the regular season with a perfect (11-0) home record. The Edinboro men are now (13-3) overall and (4-0) in the PSAC conference after six straight wins at home. The Scots own the top spot in the conference standings with Millersville (3-0) trailing them in the second spot. 

Singles 
In singles the Scots are led by three-time PSAC Athlete of the Week in Ruben Acuna. Acuna has a team best (15-1) record in singles play and has won twelve consecutive matches. 

Acuna is followed by Bruno Sabio who plays first singles. Sabio has won six straight matches and is (11-5) this season in singles. 

Gustavo Martins and Thibault Dorval are both (11-4) on the season and have each won two consecutive matches in singles. 

Doubles 
The experienced duo of Acuna and Kaio Sacchi continue to own Edinboro's best record in doubles at (12-3) as they ride a streak of five straight wins. 

Behind them is Bruno Sabio and Rocco Palombarini with an impressive (11-5) doubles record. 

Edinboro's third duo is made up of Dorval and Manav Sreekumar. The two teammates are (9-7) this season in doubles. 

West Chester 
The Golden Rams of West Chester are led by head coach Tina Tharp and are currently (3-9) overall. West Chester is (1-2) in the PSAC conference as they sit in sixth place. In their last match, the Golden Rams were defeated by Millersville 2-5. 

Edinboro won last season's battle against West Chester 7-0. Overall, Edinboro is (13-0) all-time against the Golden Rams. 

The two teams have both competed against Salem University this season. Against Salem, Edinboro prevailed in a dominant 7-0 win, as West Chester fell 2-5. 

Millersville 
The Marauders of Millersville are led by head coach Matt Helsel and are currently (5-6) overall. Millersville is (3-0) in the PSAC conference as they sit in second place. In their last match, the Marauders defeated West Chester 5-2. 

Edinboro won last season's head-to-head battle with Millersville 6-1. Overall, Edinboro is (10-2) all-time against the Marauders. 

The two teams have both competed against Salem University this season. Against Salem, Edinboro prevailed in a dominant 7-0 win, as Millersville fell 2-5. 

Up Next 
After this weekend the Edinboro men will remain idle until the following weekend as they await to compete in the PSAC conference tournament.
