Top Seeded Scots Set for PSAC Semi-Finals with Bloomsburg

Bloomsburg, Pa. -- The Edinboro men's tennis team have earned the top seed in the PSAC Men's Tennis Championship and will battle Bloomsburg on Saturday. The PSAC Semifinal match is set for 2 p.m. on the campus of Bloomsburg. 

Last Time Out 
Last weekend the Edinboro men capped off the regular season on the road with two convincing wins. On Friday the Scots swept the Golden Rams of Wester Chester 7-0. 

The following day the Edinboro men prevailed over Millersville with another 7-0 win as the Scots earned their ninth sweep of the season.  

Nationally & Regionally Ranked 
Earlier this week, the ITA recognized Edinboro as a nationally ranked team in Division II men's tennis. The Scots were ranked 44th. This is their fourth consecutive week making the top 50 rankings. 

For the second consecutive week the Edinboro men were also ranked second in the recent Atlantic Region rankings as it was released by the NCAA this week. The Scots only trail top seeded Charleston (Wv.). 

Heating up at the Right Time 
The Scots will enter the postseason with tremendous momentum. Edinboro finished the season with eight straight wins including a regular season PSAC title as the Scots went (6-0) in the conference. The Edinboro men finished with a (15-3) overall record including an unprecedented (11-0) home record. 

Singles 
In singles the Scots are led by three-time PSAC Athlete of the Week in Ruben Acuna. Acuna has a team best (17-1) record in singles play and has won fourteen consecutive matches. 

Acuna is followed by Bruno Sabio who plays first singles. Sabio has won eight straight matches and is (13-5) this season in singles. 

Gustavo Martins have won four straight matches in singles and finished the regular season with a (13-4) record. 

Doubles 
The experienced duo of Acuna and Kaio Sacchi continue to own Edinboro's best record in doubles at (14-3) as they ride a streak of seven straight wins. 

Behind them is Bruno Sabio and Rocco Palombarini with an impressive (12-6) doubles record. 

Edinboro's third duo is made up of Thibault Dorval and Manav Sreekumar. The two teammates are (11-7) this season in doubles. 

Bloomsburg 
The Huskies of Bloomsburg are led by head coach Rebecca Helt and have earned the fourth seed in the PSAC Championship. Bloomsburg finished the regular season with a (4-11) overall record and (3-3) conference record. 

Edinboro handled Bloomsburg willingly earlier this season. Back on March 19 the Scots swept the Huskies 7-0. Last season, Edinboro went head-to-head with Bloomsburg in the PSAC Semifinals as the Scots prevailed 4-0. 

Up Next 
With a potential win, the Edinboro men will battle the winner of Mercyhurst and Millersville for the PSAC Championship title on Sunday afternoon.
