Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Edinboro track and field team had a strong showing with
Kylie Anicic setting a new PSAC-best mark in the 10K and the rest of the Fighting Scots having a solid showing at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational this weekend.
Anicic Sets Records in Raleigh
On Friday, Anicic ran the 10K in Raleigh finishing in a time of 33:25.5 breaking the Edinboro and PSAC records. It was the 15
th fastest time in DII history.
Women's Track at CMU
Bernadette Zukina had a strong showing winning the 400-meter in a time of 58.30. She was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.02.
Mackenzie Fletcher was also top-five in both events with a time of 59.72 in the 400 good for second and a fifth-place finish in a time of 26.14 in the 200.
Madeline Newark was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 15.79. Newark also posted a time of 26.64 in the 200-meter dash to finish ninth.
Kate Szep turned in a time of 18:19.13 in the 5K to finish eighth and
Katie Slimon was 10
th in the 5K with a time of 18:24.97.
Women's Field at CMU
Mackenzie Fletcher and Maddison Doren were fourth and fifth in the long jump with distances of 5.09 and 5.06 meters respectively. Newark also found herself in the top 10 with a distance of 4.79 meters.
Kenzie Lendon tossed the shot put 12.00 meters to finish in ninth-place. Lendon added a hammer throw of 40.26 meters to finish 10
th.
Anna Elder was ninth in the discus with a throw of 34.98 meters.
In the javelin throw,
Eden Rush was sixth with a throw of 34.42 meters.
Hannah Cox tossed the javelin 31.86 meters to finish in ninth.
Men's Track & Field at CMU
Bobby Yost led the men's effort at Carnegie Mellon finishing eighth in the javelin throw with a distance of 48.89 meters.
John Haeseler was 14
th in the discus with a throw of 34.10 meters while Trevor Neumann was 20
th with a toss of 33.47 meters.
Aaron Myers turned in the top effort on the track with a time of 2:02.38 in the 800-meter run good for 26
th.
