Hillsdale, Mich. -- The Edinboro men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to host Hillsdale Sunday morning in non-conference action.
The Scots started out strong sweeping the doubles matches.
Rocco Palombarini and
Fabricio Sosa Pons were 6-3 winners over Ellis Klanduch and Henry Hammond at top flight doubles.
Stanislas Noel and
Thomas Buchard took number two doubles 6-4 over Alejandros Lopez Cordero and Ryan Papazov. The team of
Leon Grassnickel and NIls Weskamp took number three doubles 6-2 over Samuel Plys and Eddie Bergelin.
In singles action, Noel used scores of 7-6, 7-6 over Papazov to give the Scots their second point of the match. Sosa took the first set from Lopez 7-6, but eventually fell 6-1 in the second and 6-4 in the third.
Arsen Tabaldyev also claimed the first set in his match against Bergelin. The Charger came back winning 6-4, 6-2 in the second and third leveling the match 2-2-.
Buchard dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Klanduch at number two singles. Hammond topped
Guillermo Rodriguez 6-4, 6-4 to take fifth flight singles. Rintaro Goda took the opening set 6-3, but Gerardo Garrido leveled the match 1-1 with a 6-2 win in the second. Goda claimed the third set to set the 5-2 final.
The Scots are back in action on Saturday when they host LeMoyne at 4 p.m. at Westwood Racquet Club.Â
