Erie, Pa. – The Edinboro men's tennis team scored a 4-3 victory over Mercyhurst on Saturday.
The Scots swept the doubles matches to go up 1-0.
Rocco Palombarini and
Leon Grassnickel were 6-3 winners over Danylo Rekun and Sviatoslav Koliadynski.
Stanislas Noel and
Mathis Amsellem defeated Colm Schultz and David Mangher 6-1.
Arsen Tabaldyev and
Guillermo Rodriguez completed the double sweep with a 6-1 victory over Lukas Cabue and Mykhailo Polishchuck.
The Lakers struck first in singles action with Rekun defeating Amsellem 6-2, 6-2. Grassnickel gave the Scots the lead back at number five with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Polishchuck. Koliadynski leveled the score 2-2 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over
Fabricio Sosa Pons.
Thomas Buchard put the Scots back ahead with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Schultz. Noel clinched the match for the Scots. After dropping the first set 4-6 to Cabue, Noel rallied winning the second and third by identical 7-5 scores.
The Scots are back in action on Friday when they host Fairmont State at 6:30 p.m.
