Orlando, Fla. – The Edinboro men's tennis team fell 6-1 to North Carolina Central Sunday afternoon in the first contest of their annual spring break trip.
In doubles action, the Eagles swept three matches. At number one Kareem Abdul Hakim and Rodrigo Alves won a 6-2 decision of
Emiel Tidman and
Leon Grassnickel.
Arsen Tabaldyev and Gerardo Garrido fell 6-1 to Antoni Pankowski and Naresh Bharathy while Pol Puig Montiel and Leo Fortier-Gariepy defeated
Fabricio Sosa Pons and
Duarte Correia 6-3.
In singles action,
Hassan Ammar picked up a win for the Scots posting a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lucas Artigas at number six singles.
At number five,
Emiel Tidman split the first two sets with Fortier-Gariepy with the Scot winning the first 6-4 and dropped the second 6-1. Fortier-Gariepy took the tiebreaker 10-8.
Grassnickel fell to Alves 6-2, 6-4 at number one singles while Sosa Pons dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Pankowski. Correia fell 6-0, 6-3 to Correia and Tabaldyev dropped a 6-2, 6-1 match to Puig Montiel.
The Scots have a pair of matches on Monday taking on St. Thomas Aquinas and Wisconsin Superior in Orlando.
