EDINBORO, Pa. (Dec. 18, 2012) – Led by junior
Morgyn Patterson's career-high 14 points, the Edinboro women's basketball team led wire-to-wire and easily raced past visiting Cheyney, 81-36 on Tuesday evening at McComb Fieldhouse.
Edinboro improves to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC and Cheyney falls to 0-7, 0-4.
Patterson was one of four Fighting Scots players in double-figure scoring.
Darche' Jackson poured in 13 points,
Kiara Brown tallied 12 points and
Kerry Connolly finished with 11 points in the victory.
Edinboro set the tone early. Following a miss on the opening possession by the Wolves, Brown connected for a 3 on the other end for the game's first points. That score was the beginning of a 23-4 blitz from the Scots over the game's initial eight and a half minutes as Edinboro established control.
The Fighting Scots saw their lead continue to grow during the first half as they held Cheyney to just six field goals in the opening 20 minutes and took a 46-15 lead into intermission. Edinboro ran off a 13-4 start to the second half and was able to rest its starters for the majority of the final period.
Edinboro shot over 50 percent from the field during the victory, hitting on 33-of-65 shot attempts, including a season-high 10 3s. The Scots forced Cheyney into 30 turnovers on the night which resulted in 38 points of offense for Edinboro.
The early large lead allowed Edinboro's reserves to play numerous minutes as its bench scored 45 points, led by Patterson's 7-of-9 shooting with seven rebounds and two blocks in 20 minutes of action.

Meghyn Patterson swatted three shots while
Samantha Blazetic and
Laurel Lindsay tallied five assists apiece. Blazetic and
Katie Collins both registered seven points.
Edinboro returns to action with another PSAC crossover contest vs. West Chester on Wednesday night at McComb Fieldhouse.
