EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 10, 2013) – The Edinboro women's volleyball will look to do its part to defeat breast cancer this weekend, along with picking up a pair of wins in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The Fighting Scots host PSAC West-leading California(Pa.) on Friday, October 11 at 7 p.m., followed by a Saturday, October 12 meeting with PSAC West newcomer Seton Hill. That match gets underway at 3 p.m. at McComb Fieldhouse and is designated as Dig for a Cure Day. Head coach
Missy Soboleski and her team will raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation (For additional information on the Susan G. Komen Foundation go to

In addition to wearing pink clothing items for Saturday's match, the Edinboro volleyball team will hold a Chinese auction and collect donations, with proceeds benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
On the court, Edinboro will have its work cut out against California(Pa.) and Seton Hill. The Vulcans come in with a 14-4 overall record and are leading the PSAC West with a perfect 7-0 record. The preseason favorite to win the Western Division, Cal reached the Atlantic Region finals a year ago and come in having won 12 of their last 13 matches. The lone loss came in four games to Wheeling Jesuit on October 2.
Seton Hill has been one of the biggest surprises of the early season in the PSAC after being picked to finish seventh in the West in their first season in the conference. The Griffins are 15-5 overall and 4-3 in the PSAC West. They play at Slippery Rock on Friday night before heading to Edinboro, looking to snap a two-match losing streak. However, those losses have come to the top two teams in the West, California(Pa.) and Clarion.
Edinboro comes into the weekend with a 12-7 record and is 5-2 in league play. The Fighting Scots are also looking to snap a two-match skid. After rallying for a five-set win over Gannon in their home opener last Friday night, they lost in four games to Mercyhurst on Saturday and suffered another four-game loss at Slippery Rock on Tuesday.
A young Edinboro team with no seniors will rely on sophomore
Katie Felix at setter (544 assists), along with junior libero
Haley Marett (402 digs) and junior outside hitter
Tabitha Meeks (157 kills, 266 digs).
Megan Branchick, a 6'1" sophomore middle hitter , has emerged as the top hitter with a team-high 180 kills, with sophomore outside hitter
