Fighting Scots Head to Indiana (Pa.)

On Saturday, October 12, the Edinboro women's soccer team will hit the road for a PSAC match against Indiana (Pa.). The Fighting Scots come into the match 8-3-0 overall, 6-3-0 in conference while the Crimson Hawks are 5-5-1 overall and 4-5-1 in the PSAC. The game is scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m.

Last time out for Edinboro, they defeated Clarion 3-1. The win gave them their fifth in a row, tied for the second longest winning streak for the program since 2007. Becca Costello, Alex Brown, and Liz Debo all scored in the contest. If it wasn't for a goal in the final minute, the Fighting Scots would have picked up their fifth shutout of the season. The victory was Meghan Kelly's 27th of her career, a school record.

Edinboro is currently second in the PSAC in goals scored and third in goal margin. Brown and Debo are each leading the team in goals in addition to being second in the PSAC while Brown is tied for first in the PSAC in goals per game (.778 per game). After losing their first two road games of the season, the Fighting Scots have won two road games in a row as a part of their five-game winning streak. During the winning streak, Edinboro has scored less than three goals only once and are outscoring teams 16-6. The combination of Brown and Debo are outscoring opposing teams during that span, as they have accounted for nine goals in five games.

IUP is 1-4-1 over its last six games, but are coming off a 2-1 victory over East Stroudsburg. Brittney Kuhns leads the team in goals (6) and points (14). She is also top ten in the conference in each of those statistics. The Crimson Hawks also have two other multi-goal scorers, Tonya Fabian and Kelsey Fisher. Each has eight points on the year while Fisher has four goals and Fabian three. Mara Hricik has started every game in net and currently has a 1.24 goals against average.

Edinboro is 9-15-1 all-time against IUP and has won four in a row (lost loss in 2009, 2-1). Last season when these two met, the Fighting Scots won 2-0 off a goal from Debo and an own goal by the Crimson Hawks. Meghan Kelly had four saves in the shutout. Edinboro came into the week tied for tenth in the Atlantic Region.
