Box Score (New/Sortable Format) EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 12, 2013) – The Fighting Scot volleyball team fell to visiting Seton Hill by a score of 3-2 on Saturday, Oct. 12 at McComb Fieldhouse. Edinboro built a two-set advantage with wins of 25-20 and 25-18, before dropping three straight games to the Griffins, (25-22, 25-13, 15-9).
The match marked the first-ever PSAC meeting between Edinboro and conference newcomer Seton Hill. The contest was also part of Dig For the Cure Day for the Fighting Scot volleyball program, as the team raised funds for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Edinboro used a balanced attack to capture a victory in the first set. With a slim 19-16 lead in the opening game, the Fighting Scots scored three straight points on a service ace by
Tabitha Meeks, and kills by
Maria Concheck and
Marah Maycock en route to a 25-20 triumph.
After Edinboro gained a two- game lead, the Griffins responded with three-straight set victories to capture the conference win.
The Fighting Scots move to 12-9 on the season, including a 5-4 mark in the PSAC. Seton Hill improves to 17-5 overall with a 6-3 record in conference play.
Maycock led the Edinboro attack with 15 kills on the afternoon. Meeks and
Megan Branchick also reached double-digit kills with 14 and 12, respectively.
Katie Felix dished out a game-high 43 assists in the match.
Haley Marett fronted the Fighting Scot defensive effort with 22 digs, while Maycock added 13 digs for the day.
Corrine Gahagen led the Griffins with a game-high 18 kills and Courtney Field posted 35 assists. Lauren Teed recorded 26 digs for Seton Hill.
The Fighting Scots return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 15 in a non-conference matchup with Daeman. The match gets underway at 7 p.m. at McComb Fieldhouse.
