Branchick’s 19 kills propels Edinboro to 3-0 Sweep of Indiana (Pa.)

Box Score (New/Sortable Format) EDINBORO, Pa. – (November 16, 2013) Megan Branchick posted 19 kills, including nine in the decisive third set to help the Fighting Scot volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of visiting Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon at McComb Fieldhouse. Edinboro triumped by scores of 25-21, 27-25, and 25-22 en route to their ninth PSAC victory of the year in the season finale.

The Scots close out the 2013 season with an even 18-18 overall record, including a 9-13 mark in PSAC play. The Crimson Hawks fall to 13-21 on the year and 9-13 in the conference. The two teams finish tied for sixth place in the PSAC West Division.

Branchick tabbed six kills in the first set, while Katie Felix dished out 10 assists to lead Edinboro to a 25-21 defeat.

In the second set, Eiley Durham punched two-straight service aces to give the Fighting Scots an early 9-7 advantage. Marah Maycock and Latoya Hutchinson combined for a block assist to extendthe Edinboro lead to 10-7. Durham would record yet another ace on the next play to stretch the Fighting Scot lead  to 11-7.  Despite the early deficit, the Crimson Hawks eventually would knot the score at 25 apiece. After an Indiana (Pa.) hitting error, Maria Concheck sealed a 27-25 set victory for the Fighting Scots with a block.

Concheck had three total blocks for the contest.  

The Fighting Scots overcame a late 19-17 Crimson Hawk lead in the third and final game to capture a 25-22 set win.

Felix and Haley Marett recorded game-highs of 31 assists and 17 digs, respectively. Tabitha Meeks also added 10 digs on the afternoon.

Elizabeth Sova led the Crimson Hawks with 12 kills and a .308 hitting percentage. Lindsay Moeller added 20 assists for Indiana (Pa.).

Edinboro improved by seven games on last year's final mark of 11-22. The Fighting Scots previously reached three-straight NCAA tournaments from 2009-2011.
