Fighting Scots Fall to Hot-Shooting Huskies, 84-71

Box Score (New/Sortable Format) EDINBORO, Pa. (December 17, 2013) – The Edinboro women's basketball team fell victim to a hot-shooting Bloomsburg on Tuesday night in a PSAC crossover contest, suffering an 84-71 defeat. The Huskies shot 57.9 percent from the floor and 36.4 percent on 3-pointers, both the highest marks allowed by the Scots this season. Edinboro falls to 4-2 overall while Bloomsburg is now 6-2.

Trailing 49-41 early in the second half, Edinboro went on a 10-3 run to close it to 53-51. Junior guard Valerie Majewski had four points during the stretch that was capped off by sophomore forward Aignee' Freeland's lay-up at the 15:43 mark. Edinboro now only trailed 53-51, the closest the game had been since it was tied with 15:13 remaining in the first half. Hope Mancini had a chance to tie the game but missed a jumper at the 15:16 mark.

Lindsay, Laurel
The Huskies followed the Scots run with one of their own, going on a 15-4 run to take a 68-55 lead. Bloomsburg shot six-for-eight from the floor during the run. The Huskies would go on to lead by double-digits the rest of the way.

Laurel Lindsay led the Fighting Scots with 16 points, 10 of which came in the first half. Majewski scored 14 on seven-for-15 shooting. Freeland contributed 12 points and seven rebounds. Hope Mancini finished the game with seven points, the first time this year she did not score in double-digits.

Noack led all scorers with 18 points, shooting six-for-10 from the floor and four-for-three on 3-pointers. The senior guard scored 10 of her points during a 21-8 first half run by Bloomsburg. Noack also had a season-high seven rebounds to lead the Huskies. Borski contributed a career-high 16 points in her first game off the bench in over a month. Borski also shot six-for-10 from the floor, three-for-four on 3-pointers, and dished out five assists. Junior guard Marla Simmons added 10 points and a team-high six assists while sophomore forward Erica Maciejewski finished with 10 points off the bench.
Freeland, Aignee

Bloomsburg ended up shooting 65.5 percent from the floor in the first half while the Fighting Scots shot 45.8 percent from the floor, higher than their season average which was good for second in the PSAC coming into the night. Bloomsburg was able to hit eight of its 22 3-pointers while Edinboro shot just four-for-13 on 3-pointers. The Huskies also outscored Edinboro 43-14 in bench points. Bloomsburg also had 14 fast break points to just four for Edinboro.

The Fighting Scots will be back in action tomorrow night, as they host East Stroudsburg. It is the first of another double-header that is set to tip-off at 5:30 p.m. in McComb Fieldhouse.
