#13 Aignee' Freeland (F/C, 6-3, So.) - In her freshman season,
Aignee' Freeland was dominant against California (Pa.). The sophomore forward averaged 16 points per game against the Vulcans along with 7.3 rebounds. Freeland posted her career-high 20 points against Cal in the NCAA Tournament last year.
#32 Hope Mancini (G, 5-8, Sr.) - Fourth in the PSAC in scoring (18.8 ppg),
Hope Mancini is coming off a career outing against Seton Hill. The senior guard scored a career-high 31 points while knocking down eight 3-pointers. The Vulcans are allowing opposing teams to shoot 34.7 percent from downtown, sixth worst in the conference.

#2 Emma Mahady (G, 5-11, Jr.) - The leading scorer for the Vulcans, Emma Mahady is averaging 13.4 ppg and has scored 23 points twice this season. The Australian native averaged 9.3 ppg last year against the Fighting Scots. She had her only double-double of the season last year when the two teams met on February 6, recording 10 points and 10 rebounds.
#25 Elena Antonenko (F, 6-3, Sr.) - Elena Antonenko will likely be tasked with trying to limit
Aignee' Freeland. The Russian born forward started the two regular season games last year against Edinboro, averaging 6.5 ppg and shooting 31.6 percent from the field.
STORYLINE
The Edinboro women's basketball team seeks vengeance on Saturday afternoon as they travel to California (Pa.) to take on the team that ended their 2012-13 season. In the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional last year, Cal knocked off the Fighting Scots 80-72. The Scots defeated Seton Hill 76-60 in its last outing and now faces a Vulcans team that has won two in a row against Slippery Rock and Mercyhurst after starting the season 0-4. The Fighitng Scots come into the game 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the PSAC West while California (Pa.) is 2-4 overall and 2-1 in the PSAC West. The Vulcans had struggled to score this season but has topped 70 points each of the past two games. This is the first of three straight home games for the Vulcans as well.
SCOUTING CALIFORNIA (PA.)
California (Pa.) ranks in the bottom half of the PSAC in nearly every statistical category. Specifically, the Vulcans are last in field goal percentage shooting 36.2 percent and second to last in field goal percentage defense, allowing teams to shoot 45.7 percent against them. However, they have protected the ball and have a +6.3 turnover margin, the third best mark in the conference. Cal is a deep team that has ten players that play 13.5 minutes or more. By comparison, the Fighting Scots only have six players that average that many minutes per game. They are led in scoring by junior guard Emma Mahady who is averaging 13.4 per game. She sat out the Slippery Rock game but came back against Mercyhurst on Wednesday and scored 14 points. Miki Glenn is second on the Vulcans in scoring (10.8 ppg), first in assists (2.3 apg), and fourth in rebounds (3.5 rpg). The freshman guard scored a career-high 23 points when she played all 40 minutes against Slippery Rock. Ashley Hines leads the team in rebounding. Starting only one game this year and averaging just 18 minutes per contest, she is averaging seven rpg. The senior forward sat out the Vulcans most recent contest against Mercyhurst. Elena Antonenko is one of only two on the team to start all six games so far this year. The Russian forward is third on the team with 9.5 points per game and second in rebounds with 5.5 per game.

This will mark the 75th time these two schools have played, tied with Clarion for the fourth-most in Edinboro school history. The series ranks only behind Slippery Rock (91), Indiana (Pa.) (81), and Lock Haven (76). The Fighting Scots had an eight-game winning streak in this series going into last year's NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional, but the Vulcans snapped that streak in an 80-72 victory. Stephanie Michael led all scorers with 25 points. Cal received two notable bench performances as Ryah Gadson scored 14 while Ashley Hines provided nine points and a game-high 15 rebounds. The Fighting Scots were led by
Aignee' Freeland's 20 points while
Darche' Jackson contributed 19 points and six assists.
Laurel Lindsay also had six assists to along with ten points and seven rebounds.
LAST TIME OUT - MANCINI RAINS THREE'S ON GRIFFINS
Edinboro 76, Seton Hill 60
Edinboro received a career performance from senior guard
Hope Mancini in its last outing against Seton Hill. In the 76-60 victory, Mancini scored a career-high 31 points while hitting eight-of-14 3-pointers. The eight 3-pointers were only two behind Krystal Henson's single-game record of 10 set in 2001-02 against Columbia Union. Leading only 32-30 at halftime, Mancini led an early second-half charge. Edinboro went on a 18-3 run in which the senior guard scored 16 points in the first three minutes and eight seconds. She would score 22 points in the second half.
Laurel Lindsay and
Valerie Majewski each scored in double-digits as well. Lindsay was 6-for-10 from the field while scoring 16 points, the second highest mark of her career. Majewski led the game with six assists while also picking up 10 points.
Nicole Johnson also set career-highs off the bench in points (six) and rebounds (six).
California (Pa.) 71, Mercyhurst 66
The Vulcans established their first winning streak of the season by overcoming an eight-point second half deficit against Mercyhurst to win 71-66. Three players scored in double-figures, led by Elena Antonenko and Kaitlynn Fratz with 15 points each. Fratz, a Pitt-Johnstown transfer, scored in double-digits for the first time as a Vulcan. Cal shot 48 percent from the field against the Lakers. The Vulcans also forced 17 turnovers, producing those into 21 points.
