SCOUTING LOCK HAVEN
The Lady Eagles head northwest to Edinboro in search of snapping a six-game losing streak that was lengthened by dropping a 70-67 decision to Mercyhurst on Wednesday. That defeat was key as it dropped Lock Haven three games behind Mercyhurst for the sixth and final playoff spot from the West. Their six-game skid began with a 67-57 loss to Edinboro at home on Jan. 19.  The Lady Eagles were impressive in defeat last Saturday at No. 7 Gannon in a 70-62 decision. Lock Haven led, 40-37, at halftime and were down just four with 2:18 to play before the Golden Knights were able to secure the win.

SERIES HISTORY VS. THE LADY EAGLES
Edinboro leads, 51-24

The Fighting Scots will go for the season sweep of the Lady Eagles for the fifth straight year and their 11th consecutive win overall over Lock Haven. Edinboro's success in the series goes back even further as the Scots have taken 16 of the last 18 meetings between the schools dating back to the 2003-04 campaign. Last year, Edinboro scored an 82-52 win over Lock Haven at McComb Fieldhouse on Jan. 14, 2012 and then won 75-52 at Lock Haven on Feb. 4. When the two teams met at Lock Haven in 2011, though, the Lady Eagles nearly broke their losing streak against Edinboro before the Scots were able to escape with a 79-78 win. Lock Haven's last win in the series came on their home floor on Feb. 2, 2008 in a 65-64 decision. Edinboro has won six straight home games vs. Lock Haven dating to the 2005-06 season when the Lady Eagles took a 75-72 win in overtime.

WHEN LAST WE MET
Lock Haven proved to be a pesky foe when Edinboro made the trip to Thomas Fieldhouse just three weeks ago. On that day, the Fighting Scots came away with a 67-57 win thanks to a 12-3 run over the final 2:49 to pull away late in what was a nip-and-tuck affair. Ahead by just a point at 55-54, freshman Bobbi Baker started the game-ending swing by burying a 14-footer for the Scots. Following a Lock Haven miss and a Kiara Brown rebound, Baker finished with a lay-up in transition and suddenly Edinboro had a bit of breathing room at 59-54 with 1:59 to play.

The Scots were able to clamp down defensively and sink their free throws over the final 1:40 to put the game on ice. Brown and Laurel Lindsay both calmly knocked down four shots apiece at the line during the span to put the game out of reach. The Lady Eagles began the game on a 10-2 break over the first four minutes to establish control. Edinboro counter-punched, however, with a 12-0 run of their own to take its first lead at 14-10 with 10:48 in the first half. Lock Haven matched Edinboro nearly basket-for-basket the rest of the opening period as Edinboro ultimately took a 29-26 lead to intermission. Kiara Brown made Edinboro history by reaching the 1,000-point mark early in the second half and scored a game-high 18 points. Lindsay added 11 points. Marrysa Moyer paced Lock Haven with 13 points with 11 rebounds and Emily Daugherty registered 12 points.

EDINBORO CLINCHES PSAC PLAYOFF SPOT
As the calendar turns to February, the PSAC playoff picture is slowly coming into focus. Though it came in a style the Boro would not have chosen, the Fighting Scots locked into the PSAC Playoffs on Saturday thanks to a Mercyhurst loss. With just six games remaining in the regular season, Edinboro enters Saturday's game in sole possession of second place in the PSAC West, two games behind Gannon, and two games clear of third place IUP. Holding down a top-two spot becomes crucial this year as the PSAC adopts a new playoff format. Six teams from each division will qualify for the postseason tournament with the top two seeds earning byes and second round home games. First round play will begin on Saturday, March 2 with #6 at #3 and #5 at #4 seeds within the respective divisions.  On Tuesday, March 5 the 6/3 winner will travel to the #2 seed and the 5/4 winner will travel to the #1 seed again within the respective division.  The PSAC Semifinals will be conducted on March 8 with the bracket established to show the #2 seed/#1 seed from opposite divisions on the same side  of the bracket. Gannon, Edinboro, IUP and Cal have all clinched playoff spots from the West.

LAST TIME OUT
The Fighting Scots put together an impressive defensive performance in its 60-41 victory vs. Cal on Wednesday. Edinboro limited the Vulcans to a mere 19 percent (12-of-63) shooting from the floor for the game including a frosty 11.8 percent (4-of-34) during the second half. Edinboro trailed, 24-22, at halftime, but held Cal to just 17 second half points en route to the triumph.  Kiara Brown posted a game-high 24 points and Samantha Blazetic added 16.

PROTECT THE PERIMETER
The Fighting Scots limit their opponents to 26.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc this season, the best defensive 3-point total of any team in the PSAC. Edinboro has surrendered just 75 3-pointers to opponents and have held opposing teams without single 3-pointer in five separate games.

HOME SWEET HOME
Edinboro has defended its home floor tremendously well in recent years. The Fighting Scots are 9-1 this season in McComb Fieldhouse and are 49-7 at home since the start of the 2009-10 season – an 87.5 winning percentage.

STARTING STREAKS
A familiar starting five has been on the floor for the majority of Edinboro's games this year as Kiara Brown, Darche' Jackson, Laurel Lindsay, Aignee Freeland and Samantha Blazetic have started 14 out of the last 15 games. Two of those players have two impressive start streaks on-going – Blazetic has been in the starting lineup for 52 consecutive games. Lindsay, meanwhile, missed all of last season following knee surgery, but has started all 50 games she has played as a Fighting Scot – all 30 games during the 2010-11 campaign and all 20 thus far this season.

NEARLY PERFECT
Edinboro enjoyed its best performance from the free throw line this season in terms of percentage in its win over Cal on Feb. 6. The Fighting Scots went 11-of-12 at the line, good for a 91.7 percent total.
