SALISBURY, NC – The Edinboro women's lacrosse team ran off nine straight goals at one point to claim a 15-7 win at Catawba on Friday afternoon. The win is the third straight for the Fighting Scots, who are off to the best start in the five-year history of the program at 3-1. Catawba fell to 2-8 with the loss.
Meredith Jones scored the first goal of the game just 89 seconds into the contest.
Shelby Will answered with Edinboro's first goal just over two minutes later, and that started a run of eight straight goals to end the first half as the Fighting Scots took an 8-1 lead at intermission. Edinboro outshot the Indians 17-6 in the first half.
Edinboro would add a ninth straight goal in the first minute of the second half, that by
Shannon Rohrich to grab its biggest lead of the day at 9-1. The Edinboro defense, meanwhile, kept Catawba off the board for a total of 32 minutes,30 seconds, including the final 29:28 of the first half.
From there, Edinboro and Catawba traded goals back and forth, but the Indians couldn't get any closer than seven, with Edinboro scoring the final two goals to put the game away.
Shannon Rohrich led a balanced Edinboro scoring attack with four goals.

Rebecca Zajac each scored two goals for the Fighting Scots.
Jenny Wirth, Stephanie Niell and
Hannah Mong added a goal apiece. Zajac was credited with two assists. Freshman goalkeeper
Autumn Held led the defense with six saves.
Edinboro returns to action on Saturday at Lees-McRae before returning home to begin PSAC action at Gannon on Wednesday, March 27.
