EDINBORO, PA – Edinboro was within six goals with 22:46 remaining, but Indiana (Pa.) scored the final nine goals en route to a 21-6 victory over the Fighting Scots on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium. Edinboro drops to 4-3 on the season with an 0-2 record in the PSAC, while IUP improves to 5-0 and 2-0 respectively.
IUP jumped out to a 4-0 lead before
Rebecca Zajac answered with a goal at the 18:47 mark of the first half. Another four-goal spurt for the Crimson Hawks put them up 8-1.
Katie Magee then made it 8-2 with her 13
th goal of the season. Edinboro scored three consecutive goals with the first coming 1:20 before halftime and the last coming at the 22:46 mark of the second half. That made the score 12-6, but IUP went on a 9-0 run to make the final score 21-6.
Magee and Zajac tallied a pair of goals apiece, and
Shannon Rohrich and
Rebecca Martin added a goal each for Edinboro. Goalie
Autumn Held stopped 12 of 33 shots on goal for the Fighting Scots.
IUP had five players record three goals or more, including a four-goal performance registered by the PSAC's leading scorer, Alexa Lodovici. Lodovici had four goals and three assists to give her 21 and 20 respectively.
Edinboro returns to action next Tuesday, April 2 at home against #15 Mercyhurst. That match will begin at 4:00 p.m.
