Box Score (New/Sortable Format) ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 9, 2013) – The Edinboro women's lacrosse team started its 2013 season with a strong first half of play, but a second period surge by Roberts Wesleyan led the Redhawks to a 14-12 victory in the Fighting Scots first action of the year.
Eight straight Redhawks goals to open the second half erased what was a five goal lead for Edinboro at halftime. With Edinboro leading 11-6 at the break, the Redhawks clamped down on defense and held the Boro scoreless until the final 13 seconds of the game. By the time
Shannon Rohrich scored in the waning seconds, the Redhawks' rally was complete and insurmountable.
Edinboro opens at 0-1 while Roberts Wesleyan moves to 3-1 following the non-conference tilt.
The Fighting Scots came out with a very solid first half. After the Redhawks struck first in the opening two minutes, Rohrich answered for the tie 90 seconds later with the first Scots' score of the season.
Roberts Wesleyan would take a 3-2 advantage, but Edinboro grabbed the momentum with five straight goals from four different players.

Shelby Will and Rohrich all got in on the scoring barrage while
Rebecca Zajac struck for two goals during the six minute span. A goal from Roberts' Vanessa Sell stemmed the tide with 12:08 left in the half, but Wirth found the net once more with 5:32 remaining for an 8-5 lead.
Ahead 9-6, Edinboro scored twice in the first half's final minute on goals from Zajac and
Katie Magee to take a five score lead to intermission.
The Redhawks completely turned the tide over a five minute span in the second period. Loren Dunn started the scoring spree with a goal as 15:41 showed on the clock and would score twice more in the half. Five goals in just over five minutes brought the Redhawks all the way back, taking the lead at 12-11 on a goal from Sell off a free position shot. Roberts Wesleyan found the net eight straight times before Edinboro could answer, ending the Scots' bid for victory.
Rohrich scored four times for Edinboro while Zajac found the net three times. Magee and Wirth had two goals apiece along with a score from Will.
Sell led Roberts Wesleyan with five goals and Kendall Allison registered four scores.
Goalkeeper
Autumn Held made her Edinboro debut and finished with 12 saves. Stephanie McClure earned the victory with 14 saves for the Redhawks.
Roberts Wesleyan held a narrow edge in shots (34-32) and ground balls (20-17).
Edinboro returns to action on March 15 as it travels south for a meeting against West Virginia Wesleyan.
