West Chester Pulls Away for 19-5 Victory

EDINBORO, PA – Rebecca Zajac scored her 24th goal of the season with 9:38 remaining in the first half to pull Edinboro within three at 6-3, but West Chester rattled off nine consecutive goals to pull away from the Fighting Scots, as the Golden Rams would go on to win 19-5 on a beautiful afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium. Edinboro finishes the season at 7-10, equaling their record from the 2012 campaign.  West Chester improves to 13-4 and heads into the PSAC Championships as the #2 seed behind Lock Haven.

West Chester got on the board right off the bat on a Sarah Dennison goal 37 seconds into the game.  Jamie Dolan scored another goal for West Chester, putting them up 2-0.  Shannon Rohrich answered shortly after that with her 46th goal on the season, making the score 2-1 West Chester.

Another goal from Dolan and one from Brittany Long had the Golden Rams up 4-1, but Zajac answered with her first goal of the day with 13:40 remaining in the first half. 

Tori Dugan scored a pair of goals 25 seconds apart as West Chester jumped back up 6-2.  Zajac had the answer once again, scoring her second goal of the day off a pass from Rohrich.

That was as close as the Fighting Scots got, as the #7 team in the nation rattled off nine consecutive goals, led by Haley Nelson, who scored three of her four goals during the stretch. 

Rohrich finally broke the streak with her 47th goal, zipping a shot past West Chester goalkeeper Jess Henderson at the 14:48 mark of the second half.  She would add one more with 1:37 remaining to give her 48 goals, extending her school record for goals and points in a season. 

Rohrich finished with three goals and an assist, while Zajac added two goals to round out the Edinboro scoring. 

Nelson led West Chester with four goals, while Dolan had three and three assists.  Dugan finished with three goals and two assists, and Erin Eckert and Hannah Cowan each had two.
