MILLERSVILLE, PA – Edinboro's
Shannon Rohrich scored a career-high eight goals and took sole possession of the Edinboro career goals record, but it was not enough as the Fighting Scots dropped a tough game at Millersville, 14-12 this afternoon.
Seeking their second PSAC victory of the season, Edinboro (4-5, 1-4 PSAC) took the lead 11-10 thanks to Rohrich's eighth goal of the day and 108
th of her career. Millersville (5-4, 1-4 PSAC) had the answer though, as they scored four of the final five goals of the game to take a 14-12 victory.
Edinboro started hot with a pair of goals by
Katie Magee and
Anna Purdy. In what would become the theme of the day, Millersville answered with two goals of their own.
Trailing 3-2, Rohrich went on a tear, scoring seven consecutive goals for the Fighting Scots, keeping Edinboro in the lead for much of the game.
Millersville refused to quit, and with 11:37 remaining in the game, they tied it up at 10 on a free position goal by Brooke Fisher. Edinboro re-took the lead on Rohrich's final goal, but Millersville would answer with three of their own, taking a 13-11 lead.
Alexandria DeReamer scored to pull the Fighting Scots within one, but the Marauders put the game away with a Kathryn Khering goal with 5:10 remaining, making it 14-12 in favor of Millersville.
Purdy finished with two goals, while DeReamer finished with one and Magee netted the other.
Rohrich's set her previous career-high of five in a 19-3 win over Lees-McRae on March 23.
Edinboro returns home before hitting the road again to take on Lock Haven on April 9, and Kutztown on April 13 to round out the four-game road trip. The Fighting Scots then return home and will play three of their final four games at Sox Harrison Stadium starting with Wheeling Jesuit on April 16.
