Box Score (New/Sortable Format) CLARION, Pa. – The Edinboro volleyball team won its season opener
on Friday morning, winning 3-0 over Urbana by scores of 24-14, 25-21, 25-17. The match was part of the Tony Banner Invitational hosted by Clarion University.
The Fighting Scots won the first game in convincing fashion, 25-14. Trailing 21-20 in game number two, Edinboro scored the final five points to capture the win, ending on kills from
Katie Felix,
Megan Branchick and
Latoya Hutchinson.
After gaining a two-game advantage over the Blue Knights, the Fighting Scots did not look back, winning the third set, 25-17, to seal their first win of the season.
Marah Maycock led the Edinboro attack with 12 kills, while
Katie Felix recorded 22 assists.
Tabitha Meeks posted 19 digs to lead the Fighting Scots' defense, followed by
Haley Marett and
Jen Gruber with 13 and 11, respectively. Marett also had four of Edinboro's 10 service aces on the day.
The Fighting Scots will return to the court at
3 p.m. to take on Ohio Dominican in the Tony Banner Invitational at Clarion.
