Majewski and Freeland Lead Scots to Eighth Straight Win, 66-59 over IUP

(January 22) - The Edinboro women's basketball team defeated Indiana (Pa.) 66-59 Wednesday evening in McComb Fieldhouse for their eighth straight victory. The Fighting Scots improved to 13-3 overall and 7-0 in the PSAC West while the Crimson Hawks lost their fifth straight game and fell to 11-6 overall, 2-5 in the conference.

was the only other Fighting Scot to reach double-digit scoring. The sophomore guard finished with 10 points while going 5-for-5 from the charity strike and added four rebounds.

Laurel Lindsay fouled of the game with 1:04 remaining, finishing with six points, six assists, and five rebounds before exiting.

Indiana (Pa.) was without leading scorer Lindsay Stamp. In her absence, Leslie Stapleton led the team with 16 points. Watson and Mathe each scored in double-figures as well, finishing with 13 and 11, respectively. Watson tacked on a team-high five assists. Melanie Todd led the Crimson Hawks in rebounding, pulling down nine, six on the offensive end.

Edinboro shot 48.1 percent in the game while limiting the Hawks to 35.0 percent. It was the second-lowest mark any team has shot against the Scots. Cheyney shot the previous low, going 28.8 percent on January 5, an 81-51 Edinboro win. The Fighting Scots were outrebounded 36-35. Edinboro forced a season-low nine turnovers while turning it over 12 times. The Scots controlled the paint scoring in the game, holding a 38-20 advantage.

The Fighting Scots will return to action on Saturday, January 25 when they travel to Clarion. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. as the Fighting Scots look to stay undefeated in the PSAC West.

Game Notes: The Scots are now 11-0 when shooting a higher field goal percentage than the opposing team, 10-0 when leading at halftime, and 5-0 on Wednesdays... Darche' Jackson failed to reach double-digit scoring for the first time in five games…
