EDINBORO, Pa. (Dec. 7, 2014) – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team improved to 7-10 with a sweep of a pair of games against the Pittsburgh Streelwheelers on Saturday afternoon in Crawford Gymnasium. The Fighting Scots captured the first game 45-27, then claimed a 37-26 victory in game number two.

In the first contest, Edinboro used a stifling defensive effort to jump to a 23-10 lead at the half. The Steelwheelers made just 4-of-22 shots in the first half while the Fighting Scots were a solid 11-for-24. Edinboro would end the game shooting 42.9 percent (21-of-49) while Pittsburgh ended at just 27.3 percent (12-of-44). Pittsburgh also committed 13 turnovers.

Mike Adams led the Fighting Scots with 14 points, making 7-of-13 shots, and added 5 assists. Ayuba Alli contributed 11 points and 7 rebounds. Derek Strickland finished with 8 points.

The second game was closer at the start, as Edinboro held just an 18-14 halftime lead. The Fighting Scots held Pittsburgh without a basket for the first seven minutes of the second half while baskets by Adams, Alli, and Strickland built the lead to 24-14. The Steelwheelers would no closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Isaiah Moore was the lone player in double figures as he finished with 13 points, making 6-of-13 field goals. He added 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Strickland had 9 points and a game-high 12 rebounds as Edinboro controlled the boards by a 36-to-24 margin. Adams had 8 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.

Both teams struggled with their shooting, as Edinboro made 28.8 percent (17-of-59) and Pittsburgh was at 32.5 percent (13-for-40). The Scots committed just 4 turnovers compared to 12 for the Steelwheelers.
