STORYLINEThe Edinboro women's basketball team holds a one game lead with three games to play in its search to clinch the top spot in the PSAC West. The Fighting Scots travel to Slippery Rock on Wednesday night. The Rock is on the cusp of being eliminated from the PSAC Tournament with a 2-11 record. The Fighting Scots come in at 18-5 overall and 12-1 in the PSAC West while The Rock is 5-18 and 2-11, respectively. Edinboro was picked to finish second in the PSAC West in the preseason poll while Slippery Rock was picked to finish ninth.

#11 Laurel Lindsay (G/F, 6-0, Jr.) – Lindsay has been great as of late for Edinboro. Over the last five games, she is averaging 16.8 ppg., 6.0 rpg., and 3.6 assists per game. In the first game between the Scots and The Rock, Lindsay scored a then career-high 19 points.
Slippery Rock#24 D'Asia Chambers (G, 5-11, Jr.) – Chambers ranks in the top ten in the PSAC in scoring (17.0 ppg.), rebounding (8.5 rpg.), and field goal percentage (50.9 percent). She scored a game-high 30 points in the first meeting between these two teams.
#12 Jazmyne Frost (F, 6-0, Sr.) – Frost was relatively quiet in the first Edinboro-Slippery Rock game this season, finishing with eight points and seven rebounds. The Niagara transfer is second on the team in scoring (14.0 ppg.) and rebounding (7.8 rpg.).

Tanya Longo is in charge of The Rock program and is seeking her first PSAC Tournament appearance. The Rock recently snapped a five-game losing streak with a 70-63 win at Mercyhurst. They are 11th in the PSAC in scoring at 67.9 ppg. and 15th in scoring defense, allowing 76.3 ppg. Opposing teams have shot 35.0 percent on 3-pointers against The Rock (17th in conference). SRU is led by D'Asia Chambers. A 5'11' junior, the St. Bonaventure transfer is fourth in the PSAC with 17.0 ppg. and eighth with 8.5 rpg. Chambers scored a game-high 30 points the last time Edinboro and Slippery Rock played. Niagara transfer Jazmyne Frost is second on the team in scoring (14.0 ppg.) and rebounding (7.8 rpg.). She is a 6'0" senior. Aidan Geise comes in third on the team in scoring and the only other Slippery Rock player averaging in double figures. The 5'11" sophomore is averaging 11.2 ppg. and 5.2 rpg. Erica Aiello paces the team in assists with 4.5 per game, good for fourth in the conference. The sophomore guard also contributes 8.8 ppg.

Last Meeting - Edinboro 83, Slippery Rock 75 (January 11, 2014)The Fighting Scots had to fend off a feisty Slippery Rock team, winning 83-75. Edinboro was led by the trio of
Valerie Majewski,
Laurel Lindsay, and
Darche' Jackson. The three combined to score 59 points to lead the Scots to their fifth win in a row. Majewski scored a career-high 27 points, Lindsay had her second career double-double with 19 points (career-high) and 10 rebounds, and Jackson led the team with nine second half points and totaled 13 on the day. D'Asia Chambers led all players with 30 points while Aidan Geise had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Edinboro led 64-52 with 12:08 to go. The Rock then pieced together a 12-3 run from the 11:51 mark to 7:46 to cut the lead to three points at 67-64. Majewski hit a 3-pointer with 6:55 to play to end the run. The Scots would continue to maintain the lead the rest of the way, building it to as high as ten points with 21 seconds left.
LAST TIME OUTEdinboro 64, Mercyhurst 61Edinboro had to hold off Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon, winning 64-61. The victory was the Fighting Scots second in a row. The Lakers went on a 12-0 run after trailing 50-37 to close it to a one-point game, 50-49 with 6:42 left. The Scots would reply with an 8-0 run to extend the lead to 58-49 at 3:44 showing. Mercyhurst retaliated with a 9-3 run to make it 61-58 with 54 seconds to play. Leading 61-58 with 39 seconds on the clock,
Laurel Lindsay went to the foul line for a one-and-one. Lindsay missed the free throw but
Darche' Jackson pulled down the offensive rebound to maintain possession. The Scots ran off 22 seconds before Lindsay once again was fouled with 17 seconds to play. The junior guard/forward hit one of two free throws to build the lead to 62-58. The Lakers made a 3-pointer on the other end to cut it to a 62-61 game with eight seconds remaining. Lindsay was fouled on the following inbounds and made both free throws for the final margin. A Lakers 3-point attempt at the buzzer fell astray. Lindsay tied a career-high with 20 points.

Slippery Rock 70, Mercyhurst 63 (Wednesday, February 12)Slippery Rock snapped a five-game losing streak when they defeated Mercyhurst last Wednesday, 70-63. The Rock shot 54.3 percent from the floor, their second best percentage of the season. Slippery Rock led by 10 points with 5:01 to play, but Mercyhurst closed it to four points at 67-63 with 32 seconds left. Slippery Rock would score the final three points of the game to secure the victory. D'Asia Chambers and Jazmyne Frost each scored 18 points and combined to shoot 16-for-21 from the floor. Chambers added 10 rebounds for the double-double. Megan Hardiman was the only other player for The Rock to score in double figures, finishing with 10 points.
