Box Score (New/Sortable Format) HARTSVILLE, SC (March 20, 2014) – For the first time in the five-year history of the Edinboro women's lacrosse team, the Fighting Scots have started the year with three straight wins. Edinboro improved to 3-0 this afternoon with a 17-5 win at Coker. The Cobras fell to 2-5.
Nine different players scored for Edinboro as the Fighting Scots jumped out to an 11-3 lead at the half. Coker's Mackenzie Baker scored the match's first goal at 28:28, and after
Jenny Wirth knotted the match at 1-1 14 second later, the Cobras grabbed a 2-1 lead.
Edinboro followed with six straight goals over a 12-minute stretch to take a 7-2 lead.
Cydney Hrycko started the run, with Wirth notching her second.
Alexa Healy would score a pair of goals, with
Anna Purdy and
Rachel Olson adding a goal each.
Any comeback hopes were dashed when Edinboro opened the second half with four straight goals for a 15-3 advantage.
Emily Peters accounted for the last two goals.
Healy and Peters led the Scots with three goals apiece, with Healy adding an assist.
Rebecca Martin, Hrycko, Wirth and Olson added a pair of goals, with Martin contributing three assists and Hrycko and Wirth one apiece. Purdy had a goal and four assists, with Tomasic and
Alayna Davis with a goal apiece.
Edinboro owned a 29-16 advantage in shots.
Autumn Held played the first 45:12 in goal and had five saves. Amanda Zbinovec played the final 14:48 and had a pair of saves.
The Fighting Scots will return to action on Saturday, March 22, opening up PSAC action at Shippensburg.
