Edinboro Wheelchair Basketball Teams Compete at NWBA National Championship

ARLINGTON, Tx. (Thursday, March 06, 2014) - The Edinboro men's and women's wheelchair basketball teams competed in the first day of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association Intercollegiate Division National Championship on Thursday, March 6 in Arlington, Tx. The event is hosted by the University of Texas at Arlington.

The Fighting Scot men's team fell to second-seeded Wisconsin-Whitewater 76-19 in a first round game on Thursday morning. Derek Strickland paced Edinboro with six points. The Fighting Scots shot 23.1 percent from the field, while the Warhawks' connected on 64.3 percent of field goals. Derrick Bisnett led all scorers with 25 points on 12 of 14 shooting for Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Edinboro will take on the loser of Alabama versus Southwest Minnesota State on Friday at 12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. CT in the consolation bracket.  

The Edinboro women's team earned its first victory of the season with a 2-0 forfeit win over host Texas at Arlington in the first round. The Fighting Scots will face top-seeded Wisconsin Whitewater in the semifinals on Friday at 10 a.m. ET/9 a.m. CT.
