Box Score (New/Sortable Format) EDINBORO, Pa. (April 18, 2014) - The Edinboro women's lacrosse team lost 17-6 to West Chester Friday afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium. Edinboro falls to 7-7 overall and 3-7 in the PSAC while West Chester is now 9-4 overall and 6-4 in conference.
West Chester built an early lead scoring the first four goals of the game. Dina Cifelli scored the first goal exactly three minutes into the game and added assists on Hannah Cowan's following two goals. Erin Eckert had the final goal of the opening run coming at the 21:28 mark.
Edinboro's first goal was scored by
Rebecca Martin with 20:07 left in the first half. The Golden Rams responded with another 4-0 run. The final two goals were scored by Cowan and put West Chester up 8-1 with 14:34 to play in the opening half.
The two teams would trade the next five goals to close out the half.
Jenny Wirth had the final marker at 1:43. The Fighting Scots trailed 10-4 at the break.
The Golden Rams scored the opening goal of the second half with 26:09 remaining. The goal came from Eckert on a free position shot.
Cydney Hrycko answered just over a minute later for the Scots with her second goal of the game. Edinboro trailed 11-5 with 25:03 to play.
West Chester then responded with its third 4-0 run of the game. Four different players scored during the stretch that was capped off by Eckert with 7:01 remaining.
Martin added one more goal for Edinboro with 4:02 left. The Golden Rams tacked on two more to close the game and reach the final score of 17-6.
Hrycko and Martin each led Edinboro with two goals. Martin extends her school record for points in a season to 57. The freshman is now in sole possession of eighth place for goals scored in a single season with 31 goals.
Autumn Held played the entire game for the Fighting Scots and made nine saves.
Jess Henderson was stellar in net for West Chester and made nine saves while allowing only five goals 53:25 of action. The Fighting Scots created some good scoring opportunities but the senior goalkeeper came up with big saves.
Cifelli paced the Golden Rams with five points on two goals and three assists.
Two players for West Chester finished with four goals. Cowan and Eckert each found the back of the net four times to lead the game in goals.
West Chester outshot Edinboro 28-22 in the match. The rest of the team statistics were fairly even. Five of the Fighting Scots six goals came off of a free position shots.
Edinboro will host East Stroudsburg tomorrow afternoon. The Fighting Scots are honoring seniors
