(April 23, 2014) – The Edinboro women's lacrosse team came up just short of setting a new program record for wins in a season suffering a close loss to Gannon to end the season on Wednesday night in Erie, Pa. The Fighting Scots scored four goals in a row late in the second half to cut the deficit to one but the Lady Knights scored the final goal to stop the Scots comeback efforts and win 12-10. Edinboro finishes the season 7-9 overall and 3-9 in the PSAC while Gannon closes its year with an 8-8 overall record and 5-6 in conference.
The Lady Knights got off to a quick start scoring two goals in the first minute of the game. Gannon ultimately opened the game with a 3-0 run in which Kimberly Neagle scored twice.
Neagle finished with five goals as the Auburn, New York born midfielder brought her total to 55 goals.
Valentine also had a hat trick for Gannon. Margaret Maslyn started in net for the Lady Knights making six saves.
The Fighting Scots were outshot 26-18 in the game. Gannon also won the turnover battle 16-13.
Edinboro's seven wins ties last year's mark of seven wins for the school record. The Fighting Scots three PSAC wins is the most in school history.
