Edinboro celebrates Liz Debo's first goal of the season.
Debo's goal came in the 10th minute of the game. Alex Brown delivered a corner kick into the box which Ashley DeVito headed towards the net and where Shippensburg goalie Kayla Kennedy saved it. Following some back and forth play inside the box after DeVito's header, she ended up with the ball again near the edge of the box and took a shot towards goal. The shot was blocked by a Shippensburg defender and took an opportune bounce to Debo. The senior forward took the shot and buried it in the back of the net to end the Fighting Scots 310-minute scoreless drought spanning across five games.

Shippensburg would immediately come down the field and fire off two close chances. Meghan Kelly stopped Sharon Juarez attempt in the 12th minute and then a screamer by Jenny Litz in the 13th minute Kelly deflected into the crossbar before corralling to prevent any further Raider opportunities.

DeVito nearly found the back of the net in the 14th minute when her shot from 25 yards out hit the crossbar.

Late in the first half the Raiders nearly had a great chance on goal when the Fighting Scots defense overplayed a ball that led to a breakaway chance for Caitlin Sheehan. Kelly turned that away to preserve the 1-0 lead at halftime.

Each team struggled to generate scoring chances in the second half. With the Raiders playing aggressive in an attempt to knot the game up, Edinboro was able to generate three strong chances in the final five minutes of the contest. In the 85th minute Jansen Hartmann had a one-timer opportunity that went just high of the net. Less than two minutes later, Grace Kereky had a similar chance that was blocked by a Shippensburg defender which led to a shot by Ashley Mutkus that sailed wide.

The Raiders ended up without a shot on net in the second half and three for the game compared to the Scots six.

Edinboro got some vengeance on Shippensburg with this victory. The Raiders knocked the Fighting Scots out of the NCAA Tournament last season with a 1-0 victory after defeating them in penalty kicks in the PSAC Tournament after a scoreless tie. The victory gives the Scots five straight wins in the regular season series between the two.

Debo's early goal was her first of the season and 33rd for her career. She is now just four goals away from tying assistant coach Jamie Sallie (formerly Jamie Tekotte) for most goals in school history. It was Debo's first goal since the East Stroudsburg game on October 31 last season.
