The Pioneers come in with a 6-6 overall mark and a 3-0 record in Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
Edinboro opened the season with a 3-0 sweep of Adelphi on Friday afternoon, followed with a 3-1 win over Walsh and 3-2 loss to Wayne State on Saturday.
Haley Marett and
Sydney Trathen were named to the All-Tournament team for their performances at the invitational.
Marett totaled 59 digs and 14 assists in three games for Edinboro. The 5'4'' senior ranks seventh in the PSAC with 4.92 digs per set.
Trathen made an immediate impact in her first three games for the Fighting Scots, dishing out a team-high 103 assists to go along with 30 digs during the tournament. The freshman setter sits sixth in the conference with 8.58 assists per set.
Jen Gruber paces Edinboro with 33 kills, including a career-high 13 in the Fighting Scots' 3-1 victory over Walsh.
Marah Maycock leads the team with 3.44 kills per set and sits second on the team with 31 total kills, tallying a team-high 15 kills against Wayne State.
Challen Litwiler sits tied for fifth in the league with nine services aces, while
Maria Concheck paces Edinboro and is tied for eighth in the PSAC with 13 blocks on the season.
The Pioneers are currently riding a four-match winning streak, sweeping their opponents 3-0 in all four matches. Point Park defeated local rival Carlow on Wednesday, September 3 to open KIAC play. The Pioneers then topped Indiana University Southeast, Lawrence Tech and Cincinnati Christian over the weekend as part of the Point Park's Battle of the Boulevard Crossover.
Shiloh Simonson leads the Pioneer attack with a 90 kills, good for ninth in the KIAC. The sophomore outside hitter also paces Point Park and ranks third in the conference with 17 service aces. Emily Meng leads Point Park and ranks ninth in the conference with 306 assists, while Tabea Dalliard has posted a team-high 179 digs, ranking fourth in the KIAC.
The Fighting Scots edged the Pioneers by a score of 3-2 in the teams' last meeting on October 22, 2013.
Trailing 15-14 in the fifth set, the Fighting Scots staved off elimination on a kill by Megan Branchick to knot the score at 15 apiece. After a Point Park hitting error, Branchick recorded another kill to seal the 17-15 victory for Edinboro.Branchick led the Fighting Scots with 18 kills and Marah Maycock added 11. Haley Marett led four Scots with double-digit digs with 31. Branchick and Tabitha Meeks added 12 apiece. Katie Felix had 11 digs to go along with 43 assists on the night.Roxanne Grundmeier paced the Pioneers with 14 kills, followed by Nicole Wurstle with 12. Cara Bradley recorded 41 assists and Olivia Fisher added 23 digs.
