WICHITA, Kan. (January 16, 2015) – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team opened the 2015 portion of its schedule by splitting a pair of games Friday in Wichita, Ks. The Fighting Scots defeated Southwest Minnesota State 51-41, after falling to Alabama 52-35. Edinboro moved to 8-11 with the split.
Game One – Alabama 52, Edinboro 35 Trailing by 10 points at 22-12 in the first half,
Ayuba Alli knocked down a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to seven points at 22-15 with 3:38 to play in the opening half. However, that is as close as the Fighting Scots could come for the remainder of the contest, as Alabama held a double-digit lead for most of the game.
Isaiah Moore tallied a team-high 12 points, while tying a team-high with Alli with seven rebounds.
Blake Rush and
Mike Adams each dished out four assists for Edinboro.
Game Two – Edinboro 51, Southwest Minnesota State 41 In the second game of the day,
Mike Adams led three Fighting Scots in double-figures with 16 points as Edinboro defeated Southwest Minnesota State for the second time this season. Adams knocked down a 3-pointer as time expired in the first half to give the Fighting Scots a 26-15 halftime lead. In the second half, Edinboro never let its advantage dip below seven points en route to the victory.
Isaiah Moore dropped in 12 points, followed by
Shane Knox with 10 markers.
Ayuba Alli paced the Fighting Scots with eight rebounds and seven assists, respectively. Edinboro outrebounded Southwest Minnesota State, including 16 offensive boards.
