Fighting Scots Tip-Off 2015 with Trip to Kutztown, Mansfield

GAME NOTES: Edinboro 

STORYLINE
Edinboro rides a five-game winning streak into the New Year as they travel to the opposite side of the state to face PSAC East foes Kutztown and Mansfield. The Fighting Scots enter 8-3 overall and 5-2 in the PSAC and face the Golden Bears who enter 4-6 overall and 3-4 in conference. Edinboro then travels to the Mounties who are 1-10 overall and 0-7 in the PSAC. Mansfield hosts Slippery Rock the day before. Both of Edinboro's games tip-off at 1:00 p.m.

EDINBORO QUICK THREE
• Edinboro head coach Stan Swank reached a historic mark against Millersville on December 17. The 65-58 victory was the 500th of his career, becoming the 25th coach in Division II history to win 500 games. Swank is the PSAC all-time leader in coaching victories (501). Swank is in his 28th season at the helm of the Fighting Scots. Edinboro has been particularly successful as of late, winning 113 of their last 135 games, good for an 83.7 win percentage. In that time the Fighting Scots have captured three PSAC titles, an Atlantic Region title, and an Elite Eight appearance. Swank previously coached for four seasons at Parkland Junior College, winning 104 games to give him 605 coaching victories. Win number 600 came against Seton Hill on November 19.
 
Laurel Lindsay continues to etch her name in the Edinboro record books. The graduate student recorded just the fifth triple-double in school history against Millersville on December 17, 2014. Lindsay finished with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists in the 65-58 victory. It another fine performance in her storied career. Lindsay is looking to become the 29th member of the 1,000-point club as she is currently at 948 points. Lindsay is also 9th in career assists (409), 8th in 3-point field goals made (102), 10th in 3-point field goals attempted (297), and tied for sixth in 3-point field goal percentage (34.3 percent). This season she leads the PSAC with 76 assists and is fourth in the nation with 6.9 assists per game. The South Park, Pa. native has also been historic from the free throw line, where she is currently fifth in free throw percentage (77.2 percent) and 12th in school history with 250 free throws made. With 17 games remaining on the regular season schedule, she could become the first player in school history to play in 120 career games (currently at 103 games played).
 
• Over the past three seasons the Fighting Scots are 47-1 when leading at halftime, including 29-0 in the last two seasons combined. Edinboro's lost all three games this season that it did not lead at the break and the Scots are 10-13 when trailing at halftime since the start of the 2012-13 season.

SCOUTING KUTZTOWN
• Kutztown has scored 66 or fewer points in five straight games entering Saturday. The Golden Bears rank 12th in the PSAC in scoring offense (64.2 ppg.) and 12th in scoring defense (66.0 ppg.). Kutztown ranks first in the conference in rebounds per game at 47.2 per game and sixth in rebounding margin with a +5.5 advantage. The Golden Bears field goal percentage (36.3 percent) is second to last in the conference and they rank 15th in the PSAC in 3-point field goal percentage (25.2 percent).
 
• 2014 All-PSAC East second team honoree forward Advia Campbell leads the Golden Bears again in her senior season. Her 11.7 ppg., 9.0 rpg., and 15 blocks all pace Kutztown. Campbell also ranks eighth in the PSAC in rebounding and fourth in blocks. The 5'11" forward had a double-double last time versus the Fighting Scots in 2013 with 10 points and 12 rebounds. She has committed 10 turnovers in two games against Edinboro.
 
SCOUTING MANSFIELD
• Mansfield has lost all ten of its games since opening the season with a huge 106-43 victory over Central Pennsylvania College. The Mounties offense has failed to top 69 points since the opener as they ranked 16th in the PSAC in scoring offense (59.9 ppg.). On defense, they are 16th in the conference allowing 72.9 ppg. and allowing opposing teams to shoot 45.0 percent from the field, the second-highest mark allowed in the conference.
 
• Katie Fitzpatrick is the only junior or senior starting for a young Mansfield team. The junior guard/forward paces the Mounties with 11.4 ppg. and is second with 5.2 rpg. She also leads the team with 34 assists and 12 blocks, the latter ranking fifth in the PSAC. The Drexel Hill, Pa. has reached double figures in scoring in five consecutive games including a season-high 21 points at Indiana (Pa.).
