EDINBORO, Pa. (October 20, 2015) - The first-place Edinboro University volleyball team hopes for some home cooking when they host PSAC West foes California(Pa.) and Seton Hill this weekend. The Fighting Scots enter this weekend at 23-2 overall and 12-1 in the PSAC West, the best start in program history.
On Friday, October 23 the Fighting Scots host California(Pa.) at 7 p.m.. The defending PSAC champion Vulcans bring an 8-15 overall record into the contest, with a 6-7 mark in PSAC West play. On Saturday, October 24 Edinboro takes on Seton Hill at 4 p.m. in the Fighting Scots' annual "Dig for a Cure" game. The Griffins enter the contest with an 18-7 overall record and a 9-4 record in the PSAC West.
The Fighting Scots are riding their second ten-game winning streak of the season and have won 19 of their last 20 matches, with the only loss coming in four sets against PSAC East-leading Pitt-Johnstown.
Sophomore
Challen Litwiler has been the focal point of the Edinboro offense all year, leading the squad with a team-high 325 kills and a PSAC-leading 49 service aces. Senior
Marah Maycock ranks second on the team and 11
th in the PSAC with 33 service aces. Maycock is currently ninth on the all-time service aces leaderboards for program history. Junior
Victoria Severo leads the Fighting Scots with a .364 hitting percentage, while ranking second on the team with 226 kills. Fellow junior
Latoya Hutchinson ranks third with 163 kills, while freshman
Megan Screptock sits in fourth with 148. Sophomore setter
Sydney Trathen paces the Edinboro attack with 863 assists. Trathen is ninth on the all-time career assists leaderboard.
Maycock leads the Fighting Scots defense with a team-high 362 digs. Maycock ranks sixth on the all-time digs leaderboard. Litwiler and Screptock rank second and third with 288 and 206, respectively.
Severo leads the squad with 69 total blocks , while
Hutchinson has totaled a team-high 14 block solos. As a team, the Fighting Scots rank third in the PSAC with 55 block solos.
