EDINBORO, Pa. (October 26, 2015) – The Edinboro University women's soccer team and Indiana (Pa.) will look to strengthen their playoff chances for the eight-team PSAC tournament when they take on one another on Tuesday, October 27 at Indiana (Pa.) at 4:00 p.m.
The fifth-place Fighting Scots defeated East Stroudsburg on Saturday, 2-1, giving them a 10-6-0 overall record and 9-5-0 PSAC record. The Crimson Hawks are in ninth place and are 8-6-2 overall and 7-5-2 in the PSAC. Edinboro was ranked fifth in the Atlantic Region in last week's first edition of the NCAA regular season poll.
The Fighting Scots can clinch a playoff spot with a win or a tie against Indiana (Pa.). The Boro can clinch a home playoff match by winning their last two matches. Their regular season finale is at Mansfield on Saturday.
Senior midfielder
Jansen Hartmann leads the Fighting Scots with 25 points on ten goals and five assists. She is ranked eighth all-time in Edinboro scoring in career points (67), eighth in career goals (24), and fourth in career assists (19). Sophomore midfielder
Ashley Mutkus is second with 15 points on five goals and five assists. Mutkus has missed the last two games due to a death in the family.
Goalkeeper
Sarah Baskey has twelve starts in goal, holding an 8-4-0 record with a 1.16 goals against average and four shutouts.
Indiana (Pa.) enters Tuesday's match following a 2-0 loss to Bloomsburg on Saturday. Five of the Crimson Hawks' wins have been decided by one goal. They drew against Mercyhurst and California (Pa.).
Sophomore forward Lexie Palluconi leads Indiana (Pa.) in scoring with 23 points on eight goals and seven assists. Kiersten Zerbe takes second with 20 points on nine goals and two assists. Goalie Jessica Printz has started all 16 games for the Crimson Hawks and owns a 1.78 goals against average with two shutouts.
The Fighting Scots have won their last six matches against Indiana (Pa.), including a 2-1 win last year. Mutkus and Hartmann each scored a goal for the Scots.
