GAME STORYThe Edinboro University women's basketball opened the 2015-16 campaign over the weekend, going 2-0 in the PSAC-MEC Challenge hosted by West Virginia State. The Fighting Scots Friday defeated Charleston(WV), 82-66, on Friday. On Sunday, Edinboro used a late surge in the fourth to defeat West Virginia State, 55-51.
The Fighting Scots look to open up this season's PSAC campaign with a win, hosting Slippery Rock on Wednesday night. The two split the season series last season, 1-1, with each team winning at home. The Fighting Scots have recoded five straight 20-win seasons under head coach

Slippery Rock also began its season over the weekend, going 2-0 in the Domino's PSAC-CIAA Challenge. The Rock defeated Virginia State, 68-59, on Friday afternoon and scored a narrow victory over Chowan, 64-62, on Saturday.
The Fighting Scots were tied for second with Gannon in the PSAC West Preseason Poll, while The Rock was picked fifth.

th player in Edinboro history to score 1,000 career points as she tied her season-high with 29 points in the game. The Fighting Scots posted a 79-56 victory against Slippery Rock to win their third straight game improved to 17-6 overall and 14-5 in the PSAC West.

He owns a career record of 513-283 at Edinboro, and over the last five years Edinboro has a 125-27 record. The Fighting Scots seek their seventh straight PSAC Tournament appearance and have won three PSAC championships during that span, the last coming in 2014. He enters the 2015-16 season tied for 12

Edinboro defeated Seton Hill, 68-53, in the first round of the PSAC Tournament before suffering a 71-63 loss to Indiana(Pa.) in the quarterfinals. The Fighting Scots qualified for the PSAC Tournament for the sixth straight year and 11th time in the last 12 years.
PLAYERS TO WATCHAignee' Freeland (F, 6'3", Sr.) – A two-time All-PSAC selection, Freeland joined the 1,000-point club as a junior, and enters her final season ranked 25th in career scoring with 1,073 points and tenth in career rebounds with 706. In the win over Charleston, she posted a double-double with 23 points and ten boards and against West Virginia State, she totaled a team-high 22-points and added six-rebounds. With her 22-point and six-rebound output, Freeland moved into 24
th on the all-time scorers list with 1,118 points and eighth on the all-time rebounders list with 722 career boards.
Lauren Hippo (G, 5'10", Sr.) – the 5'10" senior is one of the top 3-point threats in the PSAC, and enters her senior year ranked first at Edinboro in career 3-point field goal percentage (44.7 pct.) and ninth in career 3-pointers made (123), along with 13th in career 3-pointers attempted (275). She is also third in career free throw percentage (79.2 pct.). She averaged 13.4 ppg and 4 rpg during the 2014-15 season. Hippo opened the 2015-16 campaign with an 18 point, four rebound performance against Charleston. She totaled four points and four boards in the win over West Virginia State.
Maggie Moore (F, 6'2", Jr.) – the junior served as a reserve in the 2014-15, coming off the bench in all 28 games last season. She averaged 3.2 ppg and 2.6 rpg in 9.9 mpg off the bench. Moore is off to a fast start in 2015-16, picking up a double-double in the opening game of the season with 15 points and 11 boards in the win over Charleston
Katie Fischer (G, 5'7", Jr.) – the transfer from Mercyhurst is in her first season as a Fighting Scot. She played in 17 games a year ago for the Lakers, averaging 6.9 ppg. and making 17 of 35 3-pointers (48.6 percent). Fischer is off to an impressive start as a Fighting Scot, recording double-doubles in the first two games of the season. She totaled 12 points and 11 assists against Charleston, and 11 points with 10 rebounds against West Virginia State.

Head coach Bobby McGraw enter his second year as the Rock's head coach after serving as the interim head coach during the 2014-15 season. The Rock went 11-16 during his first year, reaching the PSAC playoffs for the first time since 2005-06. The 11 wins were the most since 2005-06. Senior guard Erica Aiello leads the Rock returners from the previous season, coming off a season in which she set new career highs in ppg (8.8), rpg (2.4) and total steals (35). The Rock entered the 2015-16 season ranked fifth in the PSAC West Preseason Poll.
