EDINBORO, Pa. (November 22, 2015) - The Edinboro University wheelchair basketball finished the weekend dropping a pair of Saturday afternoon games against Missouri and Alabama to drop three straight and fall to 6-6 on the season. The Fighting Scots came up short against Missouri, 46-39, in the early game and dropping the late game to Alabama, 50-35.
UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI, 46, EDINBORO, 39The Fighting Scots opened the game on a 6-2 run, consisting of a layup by
Ayuba Alli and two baskets by
Blake Rush. The two teams traded buckets and leads the duration of the first half, with Edinboro going into the half with a one point lead. Missouri began the second half on an 11-2 run and never looked back, winning 46-39. Rush led the Edinboro scorers with 14 points on 7-of-14 shooting.
Derek Strickland was the Fighting Scots leading rebounder with eight.
UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA, 50, EDINBORO, 35Unlike the first game of the day, the lead never changed in the contest as Alabama led from the opening to the final buzzer. Alabama began the game on a 22-5 run and led by as many as 18 in the first half. Alabama shot the lights out in the first quarter, going 15-of-27 from the field. It was more of the same in the second half as Alabama began on a 5-0 run to take a 19-point lead, the highest of the game. Seamus McNally finished as the leading scorer of the game, totaling eight points off the bench on 4-of-8 shooting. Kevin Atherley pulled down a team-high eight boards in the contest.
