CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Feb. 15, 2015) – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team ending up splitting its four contests while competing in the University of Illinois Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Late Friday night the Fighting Scots claimed a 55-31 win over the Illinois women's team. On Saturday coach
Jim Glatch's squad split a pair of matches, defeating Southwest Minnesota State 52-43 before dropping a 49-25 decision to Missouri. The Fighting Scots are now 12-18.
Edinboro 55, Illinois (W) 31Leading by just four points at 21-17 at the half, Edinboro dominated the final twenty minutes . The Fighting Scots outscored Illinois 34-14, holding the Illini to just 7 field goals in 23 attempts while making a sizzling 68.0 percent (17 of 25). Edinboro shot 56.5 percent for the game (26-of-46).
Blake Rush paced Edinboro with 16 points, making 8-of-13 field goals, and had three assists.
Isaiah Moore was also in double digits with 10 points.
Derek Strickland added eight points and six assists.
Edinboro 52, Southwest Minnesota State 43Edinboro once again used a big second half to claim its second straight win. The fighting Scots trailed 16-15 at the half but outscored Southwest Minnesota State 37-27 in the second half. Again it was a strong shooting effort that paved the way. The Scots made 17-of-29 shots (58.6 pct.) after making just 7-of-21 shots in the first half.
Shane Knox made 10-of-15 field goals to end the game with 20 points.
Mike Adams added 11 markers.
Ayuba Alli had nine points and matched
Derek Strickland with seven rebounds. David Euijen had a big effort for Southwest Minnesota State with 21 points and 14 rebounds.
Missouri 49, Edinboro 25Edinboro was unable to overcome a 14-point halftime deficit as Missouri jumped to a 25-11 lead at the half and pulled away in the second half. The Fighting Scots shot just 26.8 percent (11-of-41) for the game.
Isaiah Moore led the Scots with six points, adding five rebounds, while
Ayuba Alli had five points and five rebounds.
