PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team swept a pair of games from Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon to improve to 14-18 on the season. The Fighting Scots won the first game 58-34 then took game number two 63-27.
Game One – Edinboro 58, Pittsburgh 34Derek Strickland posted a double-double to lead the Fighting Scots. Strickland scored 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, adding four assists and a pair of steals. He made 11-of-16 field goals.
David Hix came off the bench to make 5-of-9 shots for 10 points. Edinboro dominated the glass 44-25.
Game Two – Edinboro 63, Pittsburgh 27Strickland led four players in double figures with 15 points, adding a team-high nine rebounds while making 7-of-11 field goals. Hix had another big game off the bench while playing just nine minutes. He finished with 13 points on 6-of-10 from the floor and had seven boards.
Blake Rush added 12 points, five rebounds and four assists while
Mike Adams had 11 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Edinboro shot 57.7 percent from the floor (30-of-52) while once again dominating the glass (40-18). Pittsburgh shot just 22.6 percent (12-for-53).
