(March 5, 2015) – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team turned in an impressive showing in its second game of the day on Thursday while competing in the 2015 NIWBT National Tournament. The Fighting Scots handed Southwest Minnesota State a 58-33 defeat. The University of Missouri is hosting the tournament at Brewer Fieldhouse. The Fighting Scots will now play in the fifth place game on Friday at 10 a.m. The victory boosted Edinboro to 15-21 on the season.
Edinboro shot a sizzling 60.0 percent in the first half, making 15-of-25 shots while limiting Southwest Minnesota State to 34.6 percent (9-for-26). It would lead to a 32-19 lead at the half. The Fighting Scots cooled off in the second half, making 10-of-28 shots. But they converted 6-of-8 free throws and held Southwest Minnesota State to just 28.0 percent (7-of-25). They would claim the second half by a 26-14 margin.
Four Fighting Scots scored in double figures, led by
Mike Adams, who led the way with 15 points. Adams added seven assists and five rebounds.
Derek Strickland made 6-of-10 shots to finish with 12 points and pulled down five rebounds.
Shane Knox added 11 points and
Blake Rush had 10.
Ayuba Alli added a team-high seven rebounds, handed out nine assists, and scored six points.
David Eujen recorded a triple-double for Southwest Minnesota State, finishing with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists.
