COLUMBIA, Mo. (March 5, 2015) – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team dropped a 70-38 decision to Illinois on Thursday afternoon in the first round of the 38th Annual National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament in Columbia, Mo. The event is being hosted by the University of Missouri at Brewer Fieldhouse.
Blake Rush paced the Fighting Scots on Thursday afternoon with 10 points on 5-of-12 shooting, while tying a team-high with four rebounds. Mike Adams contributed eight points to go along with a team-high seven assists. Derek Strickland grabbed four boards for Edinboro.
The Fighting Scots finished the first half shooting well from the field, finishing at 54.2 percent (13-of-24) from the field. Unfortunately, the Illini was even hotter at 61.5 percent (16-of-26) in the opening frame.
Edinboro dished out 16 assists as a team compared to nine turnovers, while also posting six steals on the afternoon.
The Fighting Scots return to action tonight at 5:00 p.m. CT, facing off with Southwest Minnesota State.
