The Fighting Scots suffered a 49-39 loss to Alabama in the fifth place game after splitting a pair of games on Thursday. Ayuba AlliAlabama took its biggest lead of the first half at 30-21 to end the half. The Crimson Tide would extend their lead to 20 points at 49-29 with 5:07 remaining before Edinboro rallied by scoring the final ten points of the contest.
The difference in the contest came at the free throw line, as Alabama made 11-of-17 free throws while Edinboro connected on its only two attempts. The Fighting Scots actually outshot Alabama from the floor, 38.3 percent (18-of-47) to 36.5 percent (19-of-52).
Edinboro made the only 3-pointer in the game. The Crimson Tide held a slight 31-27 advantage in rebounds.
Blake Rush and
Mike Adams led the Fighting Scots with 10 points apiece. Rush added six rebounds while Adams had seven assists, as did
Ayuba Alli.
Derek Strickland paced the Fighting Scots with 12 rebounds.
