NCAA ATLANTIC REGION TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
EDINBORO, Pa. – The third-seeded Edinboro University women's volleyball team is making its third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance and once again draw a familiar face in the first round of the Atlantic Regional. For the third straight year, the Fighting Scots will square off with a PSAC foe in the opening round, this time taking on PSAC Central opponent and the sixth seed, Shippensburg. Edinboro drew matchups with Clarion in each of the past two NCAA Tournaments.
Both squads finished second in their respective divisions and clinched PSAC Tournament berths. The Fighting Scots finished the regular season with a 23-8 overall record and a 15-3 mark in the PSAC Northwest while the Raiders sported a 26-7 overall record and a 13-5 ledger in the PSAC Central. Both teams were eliminated in the PSAC Quarterfinals, Edinboro by Indiana(Pa.) in four sets, 3-1, and Shippensburg by California(Pa.) by an identical score.
The two teams met just once in the regular season with Edinboro pulling out a win, 3-2, at Shippensburg. The Fighting Scots clawed their way out of an 0-2 hole to earn the victory. That match marked the sixth straight meeting between the two teams to go to a fifth set. Both teams have recorded three victories apiece during that stretch with Edinboro taking two of the last three. The last time the two teams met in the postseason was in last year's PSAC Tournament, with the Raiders scoring a 3-2 victory in the semifinals en route to their PSAC Championship.
The other Atlantic Region bracket first round matches are No. 1 Wheeling Jesuit (38-2) against No. 8 Shaw (22-7), No. 2 Gannon (30-3) against No. 7 Fairmont State (21-13) and No. 4 Pitt-Johnstown (24-9) vs. No. 5 California(Pa.) (22-9).
The winner of the Edinboro-Shippensburg matchup will take on the winner of the Gannon-Fairmont State contest.
The Fighting Scots are making their ninth overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament under head coach
Missy Soboleski, who is completing her 12
th season.
Edinboro is led by four All-PSAC selections, consisting of first-team selections

Much of the Edinboro attack flows through Trathen. Trathen ranks third in the PSAC in total assists (1,076) and sixth in assists per set (9.52). The junior totaled 23 contests with 30-or-more assists, eight with 40-or-more, and two with 50-or-more. She has also flashed some dangerous attacking ability, totaling 145 kills, which ranks fifth on the team.

Hutchinson made her presence felt on both sides of the ball, ranking second in block solos (14), block assists (57) and total blocks (71), as well as ranking third with 306 kills. Her 306 kills rank 16th in the PSAC.
Severo and Trathen also recently received All-Region recognition, with Severo garnering AVCA and D2CCA All-Atlantic Region accolades while Trathen was named to the AVCA All-Atlantic Region team.
The Raiders are making their fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. Shippensburg sports a trio of All-PSAC honorees, as well as the PSAC Freshman of the Year.
