After clinching a PSAC playoff berth for a second straight season in last weekend's win over Kutztown, the Fighting Scots now turn their attention to securing the top-seed in the PSAC Northwest. Edinboro is currently in a tie for first place in the Northwest with Gannon, whom they will face in the regular season finale. First, Edinboro must get through a tough matchup with Mercyhurst. On Friday, the Fighting Scots seek redemption against a Mercyhurst team that handed them just their second conference loss of the season last month. In addition to the playoff seeding implications, Saturday's showdown with Gannon will also serve as Senior Day for the Fighting Scots. Edinboro will honor five departing seniors prior to Saturday's match, including Latoya Hutchinson, Dee Montanez, Eiley Durham, Jen Gruber and Victoria Severo. Edinboro is led by a trio of attackers, each with over 250 kills on the year. Challen Litwiler leads the bunch with 284 kills while seniors Hutchinson and Severo have totaled 264 and 263, respectively. Sydney Trathen controls the flow of the offense, dishing out 916 assists. After a final taste of preseason action in last weekend's 50-25 exhibition loss at St. Bonaventure, head coach Stan Swank's squad will officially tipoff the 2016-17 season at the Carol Eckman Memorial Tournament, hosted by West Chester. On Saturday, November 12, the Fighting Scots open their season against Wheeling Jesuit at 4 p.m. The Cardinals finished 27-6 in 2015-16 and captured their first MEC Tournament Championship and advanced to the Atlantic Regional semifinal before losing to Virginia Union. On Sunday, November 13, Edinboro will conclude the two-day event by taking on Glenville State at 2 p.m. The Lady Pioneers finished 20-11 last season and advanced to the MEC Tournament semifinals. Edinboro is led this season by a pair of All-Conference honorees a year ago. Katie Fischer was a second team All-PSAC West selection, while Michelle Jahn was named the PSAC West Freshman of the Year. Fischer senior started all 30 games last season and finished second on the team in scoring at 16.0 ppg. and led the PSAC in assists with 188, good for sixth in Division II and tied for the sixth-most in a season at Edinboro. Jahn averaged 12.6 ppg. while making 71 of 174 3-pointers. She ranked second in the PSAC in 3-point percentage (.408) and third in 3-pointers made. The Fighting Scots were recently picked to finish third in the PSAC West in the coaches' preseason poll and are in search of their eighth straight PSAC tournament berth.

Although their conference title hopes were dashed in a loss against #6 California(Pa.) this past weekend, the Fighting Scots incredible turnaround has a chance to make history against Cheyney on Saturday afternoon. With a win, Edinboro will have recorded the biggest turnaround in NCAA Division II history after going 0-11 last season. The Fighting Scots will also honor 14 departing senior players on Saturday prior to kickoff. Edinboro was ranked seventh in the latest Super Region 1 poll for the third straight week and is in need of another win on Saturday to keep their NCAA playoff hopes alive. Edinboro is looking for a rebound game after a disappointing 52-7 loss at California last Saturday. The Fighting Scots are led offensively by Harlon Hill candidate, quarterback. Jake Sisson. Sisson ranks among the leaders in Division II in several categories, including second in passing yards (3,338) and passing TDs (37), as well as third in points responsible for (252). The junior has a plethora of weapons, including a trio of 700-yard receivers in James Clark (904 yards), Alex Caratelli (806 yards) and Ta'Nauz Gregory (742 yards). The senior also ranks second in the conference and 10th in the nation with 11 sacks. The Wolves enter Saturday's contest 1-9 overall and losers of their last nine games this season and just winners of one game in their past 53 outings.
