EDINBORO, Pa. (March 17, 2016) – The Edinboro University women's lacrosse team makes its home debut this Saturday, March 19, hosting Bloomsburg in a 1 p.m. match. Saturday's contest will also mark the home debut of first-year head coach
Caitlin Formato. Formato has her Fighting Scots off to a 4-1 start, winning the first four games of the season before dropping the PSAC opener against Slippery Rock earlier this week.
Bloomsburg brings a 2-2 record in the match with Edinboro after dropping two straight outings, including its PSAC opener against East Stroudsburg.
Edinboro enters Saturday's contest with the Huskies looking for just their second win against Bloomsburg in program history. The Huskies have won five of the six meetings dating back to 2009, with Edinboro's lone win coming in a 12-11 victory in 2014.
Senior attackers
Anna Purdy and
Rebecca Martin lead the Fighting Scots with 27 and 25 points, respectively. Purdy ranks third in the PSAC, averaging 5.40 points per game while Martin is sixth at 5.00. Martin leads the squad with 17 assists, good for fourth in the PSAC.
Cydney Hrycko paces the Edinboro offense with 16 goals, which ranks eighth in the conference.
Paige Skinner has been a stalwart in goal to begin the season, recording 43 saves and leading the PSAC with a .662 save percentage. Skinner's 43 saves rank fourth in the PSAC.
