Edinboro Hosts No. 16 Indiana (Pa.) On Thursday In Penultimate Home PSAC Match

EDINBORO, Pa. (April 13, 2016) – The Edinboro University women's lacrosse team continues its PSAC season on Thursday, April 14, hosting 16th-ranked Indiana (Pa.) at 4:00 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium. The contest marks the fourth time this season that the Fighting Scots will face a conference opponent who is ranked nationally by the IWLCA. The Boro enters its penultimate home PSAC match with a 6-7 overall record and a 1-7 PSAC record. The Crimson Hawks are 8-5 overall and 6-2 in the PSAC.
 
First-year head coach Caitlin Formato's squad looks for its first PSAC victory since defeating 18th-ranked Seton Hill, their first ever win over a ranked opponent, by a 15-13 decision on March 23. The Scots have dropped their last five conference matches, including matchups against sixth-ranked Lock Haven, seventh-ranked Mercyhurst and East Stroudsburg. After beating Wheeling Jesuit, 11-8, on April 5, Edinboro fell to Millersville, 16-8, on Sunday.
 
Senior attacker Anna Purdy tallied a career-high five goals against the Marauders, giving her a team-leading total of 49 points on 29 goals and 20 assists. She ranks second all-time in career assists with 57 and is second in career points (148) and fifth in career goals (91). Fellow senior attacker and Edinboro's all-time career leading scorer Rebecca Martin is second with 48 points on 21 goals and 27 assists. Martin has 201 career points and is also the all-time career assists leader with 129 and ranks seventh with 72 career goals. Junior midfielder Cydney Hrycko leads the team with 33 goals and ranks third all-time with 93 goals. She is fifth all-time with 121 points.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Paige Skinner is 5-6 on the year, topping the PSAC in saves per game average (9.31) and ranking second in save percentage (.511)
 
The Crimson Hawks come to Edinboro winners of seven of their last nine contests, including an 11-7 victory at fifth-ranked Mercyhurst on Tuesday. Their only losses in that stretch came against sixth-ranked Lock Haven, a 10-9 quadruple overtime decision, and seventh-ranked West Chester by a 9-8 score. Edinboro looks for its first ever win against IUP, with the Crimson Hawks holding an 8-0 lead in the all-time series.
 
Senior attacker and last year's IWLCA All-American third team selection Amy Weinberg leads IUP and ranks second in the PSAC with 48 assists. She is fourth in the conference with 61 points. Freshman attacker Ally Burrows leads the team and ranks eighth in the PSAC with 37 goals and is second on the Crimson Hawks with 39 points. Sophomore goalie and 2015 All-PSAC third team selection Angela Lontoc holds a 7-5 record and ranks third in the PSAC in save percentage (.493) and fifth in goals allowed average (8.77).
