Fighting Scots Wrap Up Home Season Wednesday Versus Gannon

EDINBORO, Pa. (April 19, 2016) – The Edinboro University women's lacrosse gears up for its home season finale on Wednesday, April 20 with a PSAC matchup against Gannon. The match gets underway at 4:00 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium. The Fighting Scots, who have struggled at home this season, seek to end their home season on a positive note, while handing their local rivals their second straight loss. Edinboro stands at 6-9 and 1-9 in the PSAC. Gannon is 6-9 and 3-7, respectively.
 
The Fighting Scots have dropped their last three contests, including matches against 16th-ranked Indiana (Pa.) and at Shippensburg that saw them lose by just three goals. Edinboro is 0-5 at home this year, with three of those matches coming against PSAC opponents who were ranked nationally by the IWLCA. These included contests versus sixth-ranked Lock Haven and seventh-ranked Mercyhurst. Their last win was an 11-8 victory at Wheeling Jesuit on April 5, with their lone conference victory coming in a 15-13 decision at 18th-ranked Seton Hill, their first ever win over a ranked opponent, on March 23.
 
Senior attacker Anna Purdy is Edinboro's leading scorer with 57 points on 35 goals and 22 assists. She is second all-time in career assists (59), second in career points (156), and fourth in career goals (97). Fellow senior attacker Rebecca Martin is second with 52 points on 23 goals and 29 assists, ranking eighth in the PSAC with 1.93 assists per game. Martin is the Boro's all-time leader in career points (205) and assists (131), while ranking seventh in career goals (74). Midfielder Cydney Hrycko leads the team and is tenth in the conference with 39 goals. She ranks third all-time in career goals (99), fourth in career points (128) and fifth in career assists (29).
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Paige Skinner is 5-8 in goal for the Scots, topping the PSAC in saves per game (9.60) and ranking second in saves percentage (.500).
 
The Lady Knights come to Edinboro having lost four of its last five matches, with their lone win coming against Slippery Rock, 14-11, on April 12. They recently fell to Lock Haven by a 17-5 score on Saturday. Gannon is 8-0 in the all-time series against Edinboro and took a 13-8 victory in their last meeting in 2015 at Sox Harrison Stadium.
 
Sophomore midfielder and last year's All-PSAC third team selection Leilani King leads Gannon with 50 points on 29 goals and 21 assists. Junior attacker Tessa Mitchell is second with 38 points, leading the team with 34 goals while tallying four assists. Freshman goalie Kat Martinelli is 3-6 in net for Gannon, holding a .407 saves percentage and 13.78 goals against average.
