Fighting Scots Win Two of Three in Opening Day of Boro Shootout

The Fighting Scots opened the day with a 64-25 win over London, followed by a 61-32 victory over Charlottesville, before suffering a 53-41 loss to Cleveland

Action will continue on Sunday at McComb Fieldhouse. The Fighting Scots play at 11 a.m. against CanadaD2. The playoffs begin at 2 p.m., with the championship game slated for 5 p.m.
 
EDINBORO 64, LONDON 25
The Fighting Scots jumped out to a 36-8 lead at the half, opening the game on an 18-2 run. Edinboro limited London to just 4-of-28 from the floor (14.3 pct.) in the first half and 8-pof-30 for the game (20.7 pct.). The Fighting Scots, meanwhile, shot 50.8 percent from the floor, making 30-of-59 shots. They also held a 38-27 rebounding edge and forced 15 turnovers while committing just nine. Chayse Wolf fell an assist shy of a triple-double, totaling 12 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists. Ayuba Alli led all scorers with 14 points, adding five assists. Kevin Atherley pulled down 10 rebounds to go with eight points. Corrales DuPree contributed eight points and seven rebounds in a reserve role.
 
EDINBORO 61, CHARLOTTESVILLE 32
The Fighting Scots used another fast start to put the game away. They led 20-4 midway through the first half on their way to a 36-14 advantage at the half. Edinboro shot a sizzling 58.6 percent from the floor over the first half, making 17-of-29 shots. Charlottesville, meanwhile, was just 7-of-35 (35.0 pct.). While cooling off in the second half, Edinboro shot 46.8 percent for the game (29-of-62) while holding the Cardinals to 29.2 percent (14-of-48). Edinboro held a 33-24 advantage on the glass, and turned the ball over just three times while forcing 12. Kevin Atherley led three Fighting Scots in double figures with 18 points, adding a team-high seven rebounds and four assists. Chayse Wolf added 14 points, seven assists, and six rebounds. Alex Saleh made 6-of-7 shots to finish with 12 points. Ayuba Alli added nine points, a game-high seven rebounds, and seven assists.
 
CLEVELAND 53, EDINBORO 41
Unlike the first two games where Edinboro jumped out to a big lead at the half, this time the Fighting Scots found themselves trailing 26-21 at intermission. The Cavaliers would shoot 60.0 percent in the second half (12-of-20) while Edinboro was at 33.3 percent (9-of-27). Ayuba Alli paced Edinboro with 12 points, adding nine assists, while Kevin Atherley was also in double figures with 11 points, adding five steals. Former fighting scot Mike Adams had eight points, seven rebounds and six assists for Cleveland.
