Atherley Drops in 34 Points in Win over Arizona State

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Edinboro wheelchair basketball team lost its first two contests at the University of Illinois Tournament on Friday, but finished the day with an impressive 62-35 win over Arizona State. The Fighting Scots suffered a 48-37 loss to Alabama in their first game, followed by a 46-24 loss to the host Illini in game number two. Edinboro is now 10-10.

Kevin Atherley had a career game against Arizona State, as the offense came alive. Atherley finished with 34 points, including 20 in the second half. Chayse Wolf added seven points, while Mike Adams and Seamus McNally had six points each.

The day opened with the loss to Alabama due to a tough second half. Edinboro led 23-20 at the half, but the Fighting Scots were outscored 28-14 in the second half. Atherley had a team-high 11 points, with Wolf adding 10 and Adams and Ayuba Alli eight apiece.

Edinboro struggled to get anything going offensively against Illinois. The Illini jumped out to a 30-11 halftime lead. Atherley had nine points and Adams six.
