GAME STORYLINES
  • The playoff-bound Fighting Scots return to McComb Fieldhouse for the first time in two weeks after posting a 53-41 victory at Pitt-Johnstown this past Saturday. Edinboro has won 17 straight home games in the friendly confines of McComb Fieldhouse, dating back to last season, the longest streak since the 2011-12 squad reeled off 18 straight wins at home. The Fighting Scots are 10-0 at home this year and have amassed a 74-11 home record over the past six seasons. Seton Hill has never won a game at McComb Fieldhouse.  Edinboro is 15-0 all-time against the Griffins, and have 14 of the 15 meetings by at least 10 points.
  • Oddly enough, the Griffins have fared better on the road than at home this year. Seton Hill is 8-3 this season in games played away from Greensburg, Pa., but is just 5-7 in home games.
  • Wednesday's contest is Edinboro's annual Fighting Scots Fighting Cancer game. This year will be the second annual "Hoops for Harlie" event, dedicated to the memory of former Girard High School standout Harlie Rae Bolt, who tragically passed away following a short battle with leukemia. All proceeds raised throughout the day will benefit "Halos for Harlie" Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
  • Edinboro ranks third in the PSAC and 23rd in Division II in scoring defense at 57.3 ppg., and have held opponents under 60 points in 15 of their 18 wins. Seton Hill enters the contest sixth in the PSAC in scoring at 70.3 ppg. The Griffins have been held under 60 points just five times and have scored over 75 points on eight occasions.
  • The Fighting Scots are the only team in the PSAC to rank in the top three in both scoring offense and scoring defense. The Fighting Scots rank third in the PSAC in scoring at 71.0 ppg. Edinboro has scored over 70 points 12 times, and hit 90 on two occasions. The Griffins rank 13th in the PSAC in scoring defense, allowing 69.4 ppg.

Last Meeting:  January 3, 2017 – Edinboro 58, Seton Hill 54 (RECAP / BOX SCORE)
Edinboro led from horn-to-horn, but needed to hold off a late Seton Hill rally to secure a 58-54 victory. It was the first meeting between the two teams that was not decided by double figures. With Edinboro leading 52-35 with just over seven minutes remaining, the Griffins scored the next 12 points to cut the deficit to 52-47 with 1:36 remaining. A Katie Fischer jumper halted the scoreless stretch and gave Edinboro a seven-point lead with a minute remaining and the Scots iced the contest with free throws. Fischer and Michelle Jahn led the Fighting Scots with 12 points apiece and Michaela Barnes finished with 11 points. Edinboro finished the contest shooting 34.9 percent (22-of-63) and 3-of-16 on 3-pointers, while the Griffins shot 33.3 percent (17-of-51) from the floor, including 4-of-18 from beyond the arc.
