  • The Fighting Scots rallied from an eight-point deficit with less than five minutes to play to nearly upset the PSAC West preseason favorite. After leading by three points at 35-32 at halftime, Edinboro scored just two points, on a spectacular dunk by Anthony Coleman, in the first seven-plus minutes of the second half as IUP scored 12 straight points to take a 44-37 lead.
  • Edinboro closed the gap to 52-50 with 7:14 to play on five free throws by Keshawn Liggins. The Crimson Hawks responded with an 8-2 run, capped by Lombardi's back-to-back 3-pointers, making it 60-52 with 4:36 remaining.

After an IUP turnover, Mason drained a three, and Jaryn's Simpson's jumper just inside the 3-point line gave Edinboro the lead at 61-60 with 2:14 to play.
  • A string of six lead changes over the next two minutes would ensue. Anthony Glover gave IUP a 62-61 lead, with Liggins' layup making it 63-62.
